Just bought a 1987 200sx with a 305 turbo hydro in it. Never had so much fun and I can't stop thinkin about it. Would like to change the gearing so I could drive on the highway.Could someone please help me to do this cheaply. My understanding to date is that a newer 7004 would do it but why can't I change the gearing in the back? The six cyl model for 1987-8 is 3.9 I don.t think this would do.What do you think?

I *think* that's an R180 diff. Maybe check out Z31 parts.

Boy what a curve. Thanks for the advice. There is a 240 z on the scrap crusher pile I could get it for cheap should I? My questions must seem lame. I think I might need the shafts . Snow is startin here so I gotta move fast if I want it

you have an s12.
check out club-s12.org
also, there is no transaxle. its called a diff. depending on which car yours is, it could be an r180, or and r200, or even a solid axle if it was an older model.
there are many different options.

thanks for the s12 tip. apparently I have a r200 with 4.11 in it now to find what fits and I'm off

Do my 3.13 swap if you want the numerically lowest/tallest rear end.

if you have a 4.11 that means your car started out as a turbo car.
a v6 diff is a direct swap, you can use one out of a z31 also, and will have a 3.9 gear if you go with n/a.
