Hi Everyone, i am reletively new here, i haven't owned my 240 for very long or even get to drive it all that much but i love it, it is an awesome car and when i am done with it, it assure you it will be really nice!

Anyway I am officially starting my comic book i have been developing the story for years and am finally ready to start really putting some time into it. I am going to start posting some content as i get it maybe the first 5 pages of the first issue to get you all hooked :naughty:

for now i am just finishing the cover art, i can't put the name of the series on the cover just yet, because haven't secured any patents or copyrights yet but soon...soon.

http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv269/XiseTK/LZcovers.jpg

this is how the cover of the first issue will look basically

here is the actual art i had to crop most of the 240 out to fit though :(
http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv269/XiseTK/coverpic1.jpg

so as you can see i am sure this comic will appeal to people here, as one of the main characters drives an s13 coupe, the other car is an e21(for those of you that don't speak BMW it is a 1983 320is)

At the start of the comic it is the day before the main characters first day of high school. So the first series is going to play out that entire year. I am sure some of you have read initial D or Over Rev or Wangan Midnight, while my comic will be manga style it all takes place in the US. The first series starts in New England but eventually it will travel all over the US as the series progresses. Don't really want to give any details right now but I will say there will definitely be drifting as well as all sorts of other driving styles. I will continue to post here as the comic develops, at some point i might actually have to get a vendor license here on zilvia.net if I wanted to sell the comic here as a graphic novel or something.

for now to get this going i am offering my services doing car portraits of your car and you, if you want to be drawn as well. I have to do A LOT of driving all over the NE and this will help fund my gas budget for getting authentic pics of the places the races will be in the manga. There are a lot of good roads.

where in new england are you? i was up in nh last month and didn't see squat for modified cars (except for one z33 in boston).

curious to see more of your manga!

I am from RI personally, but NH has tons of modified subies. believe me man, NE it just a much different tuner scene than the west coast 240sx are super rare over here, especially unrusted ones. Most people around here are Honda guys so there are plenty of people to stomp on :) mostly Subarus and Evos getting modded over here, lots of BMW, Mercedes and VW tuners too as far as imports go.

I know for a fact that MA has a pretty big tuner scene, mostly southern Mass from what i hear, My buddy Omar has a nice S13 up there, i drove up there to get my tokicos and saw about 5 modded cars drive by while i waited.

patents have no application to creative works. your work is already copyrighted. copyright attaches the moment the work is created.

registration is voluntary but confers among other things the right to sue, the right to certain types of damages/restitutions and gives you prima facie evidence of valid copyright. it costs $35 and you can do it online. U.S. Copyright Office (http://www.copyright.gov/) if you're serious, get it done and good luck with the comic.

thats cool i wanted to do something like this when i was younger..

Why high school students though? i suppose 20 year olds would be just as cool, then you can include sexual relationships, alcohol, and other issues like owning their own places, garages etc.. The highschoolers have been done to death already in soo many other series.

Xise
11-19-2009, 04:54 PM
are you honestly telling me there was no sex, drugs etc going on when you were in highschool? c'mon of course it is going to have all the good stuff...why the fuck else would people read it lol. It is going to span a period of several years so don't worry the first page of the comic will set your mind at ease about the grittiness of this manga.

Of course all that was going on, but can you depict minors in those situations? No, at least not ethically and probably not legally...

However, there are ways around that. This manga, Veritas, does the best job I've seen of dealing with high school kids in mature situations...

Veritas Manga - Read Veritas manga scans online. (http://www.onemanga.com/Veritas/)

Plus it's beautifully drawn, funny and action packed...

either way I am really not worried about it. I can write/ draw anything i damn well please. The matter is whether or not the publisher will publish it with all the grit, and illegal stuff. If not there are plenty of ways to publish your own work I would just have to sign a contract with a printer, but i wouldn't get the clout of a name brand publisher....again i am not worried about the content...i mean have you ever read preacher?? seriously I think i can get away with some highschool mature situations lol

its cool man, jus thought 20 year olds would be cool, your 25 yourself so you could jus base it around your experiences etc

just would be cool to follow a story of guys with some money instead of teens with no money and learning as they go lol.

Good luck I really wanna see how this turns out! I second the 20 yr olds rather then High School.

Xise
11-20-2009, 11:12 AM
it is only starting with a few characters under 18, the two minor characters are seniors so they are both 18, there is going to be a minor jump ahead after their first year so don't worry I just wanted to start at highschool so you get a sense of how everyone changes after HS. Only a two year difference from what you guys would like so it is really only the first bit of it in HS. I also think that will be a good way to seperate this from the japanese mangas because america HS is waaay different from japanese.

I'm anxiously awaiting more.. I really like how eventually the story will come to the states this way the reader can relate to the characters involved due to various familiarities such as roads, landmarks, different cars (I.E. Domestic), heck maybe even local Drift events.. Etc. Good Luck man

I like the idea of this, but I have to be honest though... The character designs seem generic, out-dated and non-descript. They could desperately benefit from some more detailed and contemporary styling like what you see from mangas like Veritas, AirGear and Bleach...

I mean, when I read manga that makes me wanna change my whole wardrobe...you know you have a hit on your hands...

Of course, adding this level of detail and individuality to your draw-style is harder said than done, but I think it would be worth it and the book would certainly reach a larger audience the better it looked...

I have my own unique style that i will use and honestly you have seen 1 black and white sketch I made of the cover lol...you haven't seen anything yet. or something reasonable like an E30

anyways

this looks really sick but I agree with the fact that it should be the 20ish age range because in our society (USA) pretty much up until your 25 you are pretty much socially free. while as in japan once you are out of high school soo much is expected of you. that is why the vast majority of all manga are about highschool students.

the e21 320is was a sports model that came with blistien dampers all the way around LSD, no abs no power steering, and leather Recaro seats....an old school embodiment of the word sports car, clearly you have never driven one :) as soon as you sit down you feel like you will devour the road...if you drop in the a S14 motor(nothing to do w/ nissan) from an 88 M3 you could own most production cars on the road.

I have owned E30s also and prefer the E21 ALL day.....plus I know an E21 can burn a 240 around ANY corner so, 2002 is nice. but still e21 is still an awesome car.....ever drift w/o power steering...totally different ball game

An e21 is like a 2002 +400 lbs. Same m10 motor. Same gearbox. Same rear end. Same dampers. Clearly I have driven one and will take my custom '69 2002 alpina any day.

Please don't take my previous statement negatively. Of course, my opinion was based on what you've shown us thus far, which was generally unimpressive. Ok, you don't want your character rock today's clothing styles, I get it. But there is a astounding lack of detail or originality in what we've seen so far. I mean, so far, the look is in the same vein as that comic that used to be in the back of Import Tuner magazines years ago...

Sincerely, I hope it turns out well. Just offering constructive criticism.

criticism is more than welcome man :) that is actually the point of starting this thread. After all I don't want to put a ton of work into this just to have people not get interested because of something that could easily be changed. As for the clothes, the character on the left is supposed to be kind of a nerd/social misfit and is actually the comic relief for the most part. So his clothing is not supposed to be cutting edge or fashionable. And not often to i see gearheads and street racers running around like metrosexuals clinging to the fringes of the latest fashions....they will be contemporary but not trend whores lol.

An e21 is like a 2002 +400 lbs. Same m10 motor. Same gearbox. Same rear end. Same dampers. Clearly I have driven one and will take my custom '69 2002 alpina any day.

As for the E21 vs 02 thats true I think almost any car is heavier than a 2002, they are great cars and I have never driven an 2002 but if I had a choice I would that the E21 Alpina with the M20 motor

The character on the left is actually based off of one of my friends and yes, he does have a small head lol, maybe i did make it a bit too noticeable though now that you mention it. i was hoping that would be more subtle :D

I really didn't expect anyone to be blown away by my 1 rough outline of the 2 main characters and their cars lol. Your right it isn't very impressive but I haven't really showed you anything yet. When I get some free time I will shade and color the first pic I posted to give you a better idea of what they will actually look like, bec ause right now it just looks like a coloring book

trying to get a publisher atm, I already have a title in the works with paladin publshing but that is something completely different so they might not pick this one up they are mostly martial arts, and firearms manuals so who knows.More than likely I am going to have to find another publisher for a graphic novel.

Once that book comes out though that will give me plenty of clout in the industry so I am sure i will get published somewhere or other. but yes the ultimate goal here is to quit my day-job and do what I love to do all day everyday :)

I didn't make this thread to get compliments or approval or for you to tell me to emulate anyone's style. Let me just say that I am not an otaku or some fucking kid in high school who's parents EVER bought them a car lol, to assume so just shows that you are a some kind of douche that drank too much monster and decided to lay a shit storm on a thread he has no business posting in because he probably just jerked off to old Conan comics where there is some 5 panels of bouncing titties.

So before you go being a complete asshole for all of Zilvia to see why don't you get some sleep before you go posting some more douche bag comments telling me to emulate someone else which according to you would make somehow make my comic less generic....you make no fucking sense dude and frankly could give too shits what the fuck you think.

I think it is great that you think my comic is going to be some giddy Japanese schoolgirl bullshit from just one black and white sketch I did of a possible cover. Yes it is in manga style so if you don't like it go jerk off to some superman comics instead. Seems more your style. I think you just got pissed off at 4:30am after getting pwned by some 12 year olds on Modern warfare 2 and needed to flame someone to feel better about your shitty FPS skills, did I get it?...yeah i think I did

oh yeah, i know that mu cars look nice, otherwise why the fuck would i be doing this.....plus i jut found out you drive a mostly stock orange hatch named Linda?!?! LMAO what a toolbag...your post just lost any worth it had after I read your queer blog you made...and you called the cars in my comic buster rides lol...look at your fucking car dude haha this shit is laughable....i can't belivee you are the same age as me...why don't you grow the fuck up ....I believe i have to coin a new word to describe you...I believe "fucktard" would fit perfectly!

I believe i have to coin a new word to describe you...I believe "fucktard" would fit perfectly!

good sir, I do believe the word "fucktard" has already been coined. I'll coin a word for you right on the spot, free of charge. "Dickheart". It is an adj and a verb. Usage: "That busteds13 is being too much of a dickheart" "busteds13 is dickearting this thread" etc. adj meaning: to act in which a way that your heart is replaced with your dick. Verb meaning: through actions or in communication, lowering the moral of a person(s), leaving them to believe that you have a dick for a heart.

btw, you are not going to get published on your first comic just because you can draw. there are a lot of shit involved. I know some one high up in *A VERY LARGE COMIC PUBLISHER* and it just makes his day when he can rain on some ones parade because they did not meet a dead line, or use the wrong color way to illustrate a 30 page comic. Start an online comic, give it out for free. get 30k hits a month, then start talking to publishers. otherwise its just like saying "I'm really fast in a racing sim like live for speed, forza, and gt games, F1 racing teams should have me be their driver" Start drawing for free, get a fan base so big that you have to start paying for bandwidth, then start talking about getting published.

btw I was rooting for you, but now I highly doubt you are ever going to do more than 1 comic and you are going to give up on the idea of being famous, rich, comicbook author. Fuck Your Life.

technically this is not going to be my first work that is getting published. I have illustrations in 2 martial arts manuals that should be hitting shelves the first quarter of next yeay under Paladin Press. So once those are printed and out I will have quite the resume. I might go the route of a web comic in small 7 panel clips or something but I am most likely going to jump right into a graphic novel format....

root for me or don't I was simply trying to let people know what i was doing. Even if you nay say now I will never deny you the right to purchase my comic in the near future :D....
