Drift Racing comic announced!
Hi Everyone, i am reletively new here, i haven't owned my 240 for very long or even get to drive it all that much but i love it, it is an awesome car and when i am done with it, it assure you it will be really nice!
Anyway I am officially starting my comic book i have been developing the story for years and am finally ready to start really putting some time into it. I am going to start posting some content as i get it maybe the first 5 pages of the first issue to get you all hooked for now i am just finishing the cover art, i can't put the name of the series on the cover just yet, because haven't secured any patents or copyrights yet but soon...soon. this is how the cover of the first issue will look basically here is the actual art i had to crop most of the 240 out to fit though so as you can see i am sure this comic will appeal to people here, as one of the main characters drives an s13 coupe, the other car is an e21(for those of you that don't speak BMW it is a 1983 320is) At the start of the comic it is the day before the main characters first day of high school. So the first series is going to play out that entire year. I am sure some of you have read initial D or Over Rev or Wangan Midnight, while my comic will be manga style it all takes place in the US. The first series starts in New England but eventually it will travel all over the US as the series progresses. Don't really want to give any details right now but I will say there will definitely be drifting as well as all sorts of other driving styles. I will continue to post here as the comic develops, at some point i might actually have to get a vendor license here on zilvia.net if I wanted to sell the comic here as a graphic novel or something. for now to get this going i am offering my services doing car portraits of your car and you, if you want to be drawn as well. I have to do A LOT of driving all over the NE and this will help fund my gas budget for getting authentic pics of the places the races will be in the manga. There are a lot of good roads. |

I am from RI personally, but NH has tons of modified subies. believe me man, NE it just a much different tuner scene than the west coast 240sx are super rare over here, especially unrusted ones. Most people around here are Honda guys so there are plenty of people to stomp on mostly Subarus and Evos getting modded over here, lots of BMW, Mercedes and VW tuners too as far as imports go.
I know for a fact that MA has a pretty big tuner scene, mostly southern Mass from what i hear, My buddy Omar has a nice S13 up there, i drove up there to get my tokicos and saw about 5 modded cars drive by while i waited. |

patents have no application to creative works. your work is already copyrighted. copyright attaches the moment the work is created.
registration is voluntary but confers among other things the right to sue, the right to certain types of damages/restitutions and gives you prima facie evidence of valid copyright. it costs $35 and you can do it online. U.S. Copyright Office if you're serious, get it done and good luck with the comic. |

thats cool i wanted to do something like this when i was younger..
Why high school students though? i suppose 20 year olds would be just as cool, then you can include sexual relationships, alcohol, and other issues like owning their own places, garages etc.. The highschoolers have been done to death already in soo many other series.

are you honestly telling me there was no sex, drugs etc going on when you were in highschool? c'mon of course it is going to have all the good stuff...why the fuck else would people read it lol. It is going to span a period of several years so don't worry the first page of the comic will set your mind at ease about the grittiness of this manga.

However, there are ways around that. This manga, Veritas, does the best job I've seen of dealing with high school kids in mature situations... Veritas Manga - Read Veritas manga scans online. Plus it's beautifully drawn, funny and action packed... |

either way I am really not worried about it. I can write/ draw anything i damn well please. The matter is whether or not the publisher will publish it with all the grit, and illegal stuff. If not there are plenty of ways to publish your own work I would just have to sign a contract with a printer, but i wouldn't get the clout of a name brand publisher....again i am not worried about the content...i mean have you ever read preacher?? seriously I think i can get away with some highschool mature situations lol

its cool man, jus thought 20 year olds would be cool, your 25 yourself so you could jus base it around your experiences etc
just would be cool to follow a story of guys with some money instead of teens with no money and learning as they go lol.

it is only starting with a few characters under 18, the two minor characters are seniors so they are both 18, there is going to be a minor jump ahead after their first year so don't worry I just wanted to start at highschool so you get a sense of how everyone changes after HS. Only a two year difference from what you guys would like so it is really only the first bit of it in HS. I also think that will be a good way to seperate this from the japanese mangas because america HS is waaay different from japanese.

I'm anxiously awaiting more.. I really like how eventually the story will come to the states this way the reader can relate to the characters involved due to various familiarities such as roads, landmarks, different cars (I.E. Domestic), heck maybe even local Drift events.. Etc. Good Luck man

I like the idea of this, but I have to be honest though... The character designs seem generic, out-dated and non-descript. They could desperately benefit from some more detailed and contemporary styling like what you see from mangas like Veritas, AirGear and Bleach...
I mean, when I read manga that makes me wanna change my whole wardrobe...you know you have a hit on your hands... Of course, adding this level of detail and individuality to your draw-style is harder said than done, but I think it would be worth it and the book would certainly reach a larger audience the better it looked... |

^^ Sorry man this story takes place in a certain time period so I am not having my characters just fitting the mast cutting edge clothing trends and fashions...Like I saidI have my own style and am certainly not trying to fit anyone else' mold. I have my own unique style that i will use and honestly you have seen 1 black and white sketch I made of the cover lol...you haven't seen anything yet. I know I haven't posted anything else yet but just be patient.
