hello,
so im finally writing this because i cant find a similar thread.
i got a 240 with a single cam KA in it last week. i was told from the time the owner put the smog stuff back on the car it was running like it had a misfire on cold start and you have to hold the idle up for the car not to die untill the car is warm, once its warm it runs fine.
i started going through the car and i disconnected the AIV from the airbox and disconnected and plugged the vac lines the owner said he reconnected to the charcol canister. no change. cleaned the MAF, no change, fuel system cleaner, no change.
looked more in to it figured it might be a ICV problem. took that off cleaned it out with cleaner and replaced the gasket with a brand new one. car started to run better, had little trouble on start up but was running better. now a day later on completely cold start the car is running worse, wont hold idle for more then 20 sec before completely dieing out. while running it stutters and shuts elec off, clicks back on then revs back up for a few seconds before almost dieing out/completely dieing.
im wondering if it might be spark plugs? or EGR? fuel pump/injectors? anyone have this type of problem?
