Hey guys, I need some help on tire size and front wheel clearance, before I buy the wheels and tires. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Car is a 97 S14, stock front fenders
Running on -1.8" lowering springs and KYB AGX shocks
Currently stock wheels (16x6.5 +40) on 225/50/16 tires
Still have stock fender liner, and plan to keep it unless I have to remove it
-1.7" camber all around
I have about 0.5" (about 12mm) of clearance from the widest point of the tires to the shock.
Willing to do a roll+ slight pull if I have to, but prefer not to
I don't want to run stretched tires
The wheels I'm looking to get are 17x9 +17.
I'm looking to roll on 235/45/17 tires, with the same suspension (same lowering springs, KYB AGX shocks) with same negative camber, hopefully no roll needed
I'm pretty sure the wheel will fit properly, but will the tire hit the shock?
Will the tire hit the fender, or will it clear?

That tire is too tall. 235/40/17 is what you should buy. Too answer your question though, you should clear with ease. Doubt your low enough on shocks and springs to require a roll.
Oh and this is my opinion only, but I feel a 245/40/17 would be perfect.

Like DreamN said, too tall.

i clear 255s on 17x9+17 on my s13, u should have less trouble on ur s14 check the maximum tire thread... and my fron and rear fenders are flush, the rear was pulled more than the front though but ever so slightly.
Also I used to have kyb agx's before my custom coilover setup. The KYB AGX fit perfectly with stech springs on this combo... even MORE inner clearance.
The only modifications I had to do was mash the seams and slightly tighten the harness... since i run more caster, i had to modify lightly the front fender bottom liner.
-3.0 front camber, -1.8 rear camber

I'm planning to run 18x9.5 +12 in the rear with a 245/40/18 tire as a staggered set with the front.
Will this setup look strange with the 245/40/17 in the front (because the entire front wheel+tire is smaller in diameter than the rear) and make the front of the car lower than the rear? Or will it look ok?

What is it with you and these tall ass tires? 245/40/18 is an inch taller than stock.
Why even stagger in tire widths if it's only going to be 10mm? No real point in my opinion, but it's on you.
Any tire over 225 and especially a 40 series will be taller in the rear than your fronts. Not to mention you are planning to run staggered diameters. Either way front will always be lower even if you were rocking stockies. It's just how it works.
Besides, if you were to run those freakishly tall tires that you want it'd look horrible because you'll have some crazy tall rubber up front surrounding your wheel and a lower profile tire in the rear.
Any way if you're stuck on 235 and 245 then run the following: 235/40/17 up front, 245/35/18 in the rear.

Taller tires minimize the wheel gap, so the car looks a bit better
How would 235/40/17 front and 255/35/18 rear look and fit?
245/35/18 really limits my tire options.

taller tires never make a car look better in my opinion.
I only offered those sizes since you didn't mention about going any wider.
235/40/17 and 255/35/18 would be my pick if you wanted a staggered setup. They'll fit fine. Take fliprayzin as an example. If you keep asking these questions though it's just going to get annoying. Search for cars with the same sizes you're looking at. I'm sure there are plenty.

YOURE DOING IT WRONG. You want to minimize the wheel gap, lower the damn car.
I suggest you look up tire calculators in google. Punch in 205/55 16s for a starting reference since thats the stock wheel size on S14s. From there, start playing around with tire sizes to see how much more bigger each size will be. Personally, I think 235/40/17 and 255/35/18 looks okay, theyre actually smaller than stock and still acceptable.
For my daily, im running 265/35 18s in the rear with 235/40s in the front. Fronts are a bit taller, figured ill shred the 265s and run 275s to make up for it.

Damn how I despise your kit, but your wheel sizing and tire size make up for it big time.
I'm currently running 235s up front and 255s in the rear. Current wheels are 350Z 17X7.5 & 17X8. Wish I had beefier wheels :(

You and me both...only reason its there is because its been there from the day I got it. I'd rather not buy another bodykit and deal with matching the paint when the chassis will be together for another 2 yrs before it goes into the junkyard. Fuck this TARGET Bodykit...its the ugliest fucking kit next to the Bomex kit. Only thing it got going for it is nobody else rocks it...then again, its probably cuz its so fucking ugly. :barf:

Thanks guys for the help, much appreciated.
Do I need to do any rolling or removing the fender liner if I run 245/40/17 in the front? It's close to stock size, and I'm still going to be on -1.8" springs+shocks.
Spring perch and strut are going to be fine, but I'm thinking the tire might rub on the fender liner.
Looking to keep my -1.7degrees camber all around.
235/40/17 + 255/35/18 together gives me limited tire options, and I don't want to run different tires for front/rear.
