seriosuly im not gonna ask what got you into tuners or imports
because alot of us more then half even if you dont want to admit it got into cause of F & F. (yea you memorize all of the one liners thats why you repeat them again and again on rice threads) we all hate those movies now but we saw it again and again that summer of 2000 (or 2001) forgot.
what got you into s13's - 14's?
what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car.
whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time

Naw got an S chassis cuz one of my old neighbors had it. She was a girl and I was like damn thats a nice car! Actually was looking into buying a 3000GT vr4 or a honda prelude with the h22 motor. VR4 too expensive, prelude with h22 only in japan! Next best thing. S chassis!

Needed a car when I got into the Air Force found an S13 Fastback for sale at the "Lemon Lot" for $1600. Bought it and dropped an exhaust valve 2 weeks later and punched a hole in the piston. Learned about different engine swaps and started modding it.

Cruising with a friend of mine in his S14 on Okinawa in '99. He had full Veilside kit, sweet stereo, and the doorsills that light up. From that moment, I was enamored with his car. I asked if they had them back in the US, but to his knowledge they didn't. When I came back, I kind of lost hope. I drove around a few Integras and other cars, but didn't really find anything I liked. One day I happened upon a red fastback at a shady car dealer next to a strip club, and while taking the test drive, I fell absolutely in love. I got completely ripped off, paying $4880 for a 9 year old car with 140k+ miles. That said, I still own the car and I don't regret buying it one bit.
I regret cutting away my battery box for the custom short ram intake I had for awhile.
I think Lisa fell for me because of it, and I can't recall having been embarrassed in it, beyond the time when the clutch crapped out on me at a freeway offramp.

i honestly fell into one. i had a maxima that i had "upgraded." got me loving nissan. broke the maxima, so i needed a new car and i wanted to go rwd. my brother suggested a 240. we looked into it...5 months of looking and i found my 2 tone coupe and have loved it ever since.
embarrasing?....when i got a faulty rack and my steering locked, spun out run up a freeway entrance and popped a tire. bout it. that and when it was like 6 colors. lol.
regrets? i dont think i have any.
and my car definitely helps initiate some convo's, and gets me compliments from girls..especially about the color. lol. i love it.

I wanted a turbo car, I wanted rwd and I wanted to spend less than 10,000 dollars. my room mates brother got a mazda protege and i bought his 240 (that had not been washed in three years) and a front clip and a clutch and the konis and ground control setup all within the month of August 2003. periodically over the next few months i took apart the clip. with it all torn down and no place to keep it in the current condition i took it to someone to wire it all and tie up other odds and ends (best idea i ever had luckily). after about a month i was driving it and then the bug hit, i joined the forums and actually started to read things (im still a fool about most of it after six years) and try to put away as much money as i could on it.
everytime i stall the car.
regret everything every time my bank account only has numbers after the period. but then its soon gone when i drive to go overdraw the account.
i have met girls stopped at red lights in my car and that mug in my avatar sure isnt what I like seeing in the mornings.

I was looking for a car and was just going around looking at preludes, eclipses etc. at sellers, etc. A guy down the street from my old house had an s13 for 400$ that ran, 5spd, sohc, still regret not getting it, I saw it and loved the way it looked had no clue what it was. So a year or so later I see this sexy ass red car in the parkinglot while we are at dinner, completly stock 98 240sx, wow i didnt even know they made them in this year/bodystyle! I take down the number etc. and do research and end up making the purchase not long after!
I regret spending money on stupid stuff when I should have done suspension/5speed swap FIRST.
I love my baby, her name is Lucy, she is tempermental, but has her problems, but I would never give her up for another car. I wouldnt trade it for something nicer, I have an attatchment to my kouki haha.

I used to work for Pole Position Raceway and i asked my friend to come in and race with me for free to see if he wanted to work as a mechanic. at the start of the race he was close behind and i just lose him in every turn and slow down at straight aways so he could catch up
after the race he was like oh shit i didnt know you could drift. shit was crazy fast
and i was like huh? whats a drift? i dont get you. i just drive that way because i can carry the speed a lot better around the corners
then he showed me some d1 shiz
and i was looking for a fun car at the time but never knew these cars existed he told me to get a s14 but i was like nah i already have a camry lol i found a s13 later and got hooked. for a great deal too

I got it for like 400 or something. I always wanted an integra growing up, but my freind was selling the 240 for 400, so I was like, Ill pick this up till I can buy a teg. Then I got my teg, and when it came down to choose to sell one, well I sold the teg. And actually I got into the whole import thing when I was like 18 (omg, 2 years ago). Before that I didnt really care much about cars, I just skated and such. First sem in college though I hung out with alot of kids in the import scene, so wed alway roll around in their cars, and eventually, it grew on me.
BTW, Grammar day is over.

I wanted an S13 fastback forever but when I was a kid I had no idea what it was. Fast forward to 2003, I started getting into r/c drifting. One guy I used to talk to online had my dream car as the shell for his car. I asked him what it was and the rest is history.
The most embarrassing thing is knowing in hind sight that I got hosed with this car. I've spent to much just to keep it running. I could have bought a turbo FC and had more reliability.
My ex hated my car. Made her boobs hurt. S13 =\= pussy magnet.

just wanted an affordable, fun to drive, cheap to buy, cheap to insure, unpopular with thieves (was back when I picked it up) rwd daily to replace my older miata.
Was looking at FC's, S13s, and S14s. Found a cheaper S14 shell and went on from there. It still is more or less my daily, aside from when it breaks down. My S14 has been one of the most unreliable and expensive to own cars I've had. went through 2 transmissions the past 6 months alone.

back in 2002 when I was 14 and didnt know shit about cars but enjoyed learning about new things and playing video games,
my cousin bought a 89 240sx, it was one of the first sports cars in my family i was exposed to (the very first being an old 911).
one day while we were having a family get together, my cousin popped in his GranTurismo 3 disc and started playing on his file, and i noticed he was driving a 240sx, like the one he had outside.
Being severly influenced, i went home and started my own file and came to like the look of the s13 and started looking for my first 240 a few months later.
dont know what kind of cars i would be into right now if it wasnt for him

my buddy got me into 240s...
I was looking for a car because my sister had taken the car we were supposedly 'sharing'. I started liking the Scion tC (thank goodness i didn't get one) but my pops told me to get a used car because my insurance would be too high because of a speeding ticket on my record.
I was looking around at civics, accords, integras, altimas, maximas, the typical honda/nissan/toyotas for teens. My buddy tells me to look into 240s and showed me some drifting videos and i was like, dude thats lame. But I started to like how s14s looked and went to go check out a 95 white zenki which turned out to be a 98 black kouki (lol)..
I regret the day I took a freeway onramp too fast and went curb surfing. But I did learn my lesson...

Never knew anything about the S-chassis when I got my car. Just remembered hearing the name Silvia somewhere. So my dad looked into it when we were shopping for my first car. The first one he showed me was the one I ended up with. Knew nothing about the SR motor it had to the K's aero already on it. Furthermore I didnt know how to drive stick so learning a stage 2 clutch was fun...

-what got you into s13's - 14's?
my classmate at UTI AZ, Nate (who ive lost contact with, and regret because id love to show him how much ive done to my car since). he went from a 99 Si to a s14 and wouldnt shut up about how awesome 240s were. at the time i was selling my 93 Prelude because i was tired of it. (i riced it out in 2001-2002 when that was still rare, and cool up here). initially i was going to get an EG hatch to build but when i saw the pricing on s13s and the potential of an RB i jumped ship. ironically i ended up buying an EG hatch 2 years and which is now H22 powered and i love both of them
-what was your first emberassing memory relating to your first S car.
dying on the highway coming home from school. luckily it was only a loose battery cable
-whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time
not much, just regretting not getting a few other 240s i looked at. i turned down a really nice s13 hatch with a full real bn sports kit, kouki tails, eastbear lights, ka24de because the ignition was broken and it didnt have an interior. i was going to pay 3500 for it but talked him down to 2200 and i still didnt pick it up. still regret it.
another one i looked at and regret not picking up is another clean s13 hatch but it had z32 brake conversion/wheels all around and lsd. i think he wanted 2600 or 2800. also still regret that. but im pretty happy with the one i ended up with even though it was all stock except for the deck and the glove box re-upholstered.
-has it helped you gotten laid or atleast gotten you a girl
no. my s13 has looked like a POS until last aug when i painted it. my prelude did though, i was still in hs when i had that car.

03-05-2009, 11:46 AM
I started driving in 1995, and used to see a Zenki S14 around town ALL the time, and I just really liked the way they looked. I had a 81 Buick Regal at the time.
Fuck, I was 16 and working in a grocery store to keep some of the pressure off of my family, so damn if I could AFFORD anything more than a-to-b transportation, but I was not to forget that damn car.
1997 - I have graduated high school now, and that car I so liked was still a little beyond my means, and the new ones are ugly as fucking sin (yes, I have hated Kouki S14's from the gate). Now I have an Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme (sold), and will soon have a 92 Supra (wrecked), then another Cutlass (blown engine), then an 85 Carolla SR5 (sold), and I am nearing the end of college, working full time at a decent job and yaddayaddayadda... Keep in mind, that my only use of the internet to this point was ALL for school and not for recreation, so I knew nothing more about motorsports than what I saw on television, didn't give a fuck about magazines and a "drifter" was a homeless person who went from city to city as far as I knew.
Hey, I got money now, it is March 2001 and I am looking for a car I can actually like, so I am looking through an auto trader and I see a lot in the next county had a 95 for sale, so I swing by and test drive and I like it, so I fill out the paperwork, drop by the next day and pick it up. No plans for it, I was not into heavy modifications and shit, I was thinking nothing more than wheels, tint and stereo at the time, and had those within a few months.
I knew nothing, so the wheels were TERRIBLE fitment, but I had gotten them DUMB cheap, the stereo was as I liked it though, as I had had something in every car I had ever owned...
Then I discovered forums...
My desires for the car changed quickly, B&M shifter, eibach springs and AGX, got it painted and was in the middle of plans to turbo a KA for the car, then I flipped and rolled it and spent 16 days in the hospital.
It was like a bug, though... Even in the hospital, I was planning to either fix mine or get another. Information gained in the in-between of buying and losing the first one had me willing to accept S13 OR S14, I would go for Coupe OR Fastback, but I was NOT willing to take a Kouki S14...
Friend of mine happened to have an 89 coupe shell he was needing to unload before he took a contract job in the middle east, for only 500.00, it was an auto car that the engine had been blown in, he had converted it for twincam already and changed his mind, so no engine/tranny was in the car... Body was clean, as was the interior, so I grabbed a KA from the junkyard and gathered parts from friends for the 5-speed swap. My plans (more hopes than anything at this point) are more grandiose than anything I might have imagined for a car before it, even still though more conservative than the shit that some of these children jerk off to.
Long story I know, but at the beginning of it all was simply the fact that I saw and liked the Zenki S14 when they were knew that got me to notice them, and having owned one is what has kept me INTO them.
Most likely, it will have to be a wreck totaling this one to tear me from it, even when I get a daily and can finish modding it.
what got you into s13's - 14's?
Answered above.
what was your first emberassing (sic) memory relating to your first S car.
Driving back to a party, a faulty aftermarket water pump wobbled, causing my clutch fan to hit my distributor, 3 friends and I had to push my car up a hill to their apartment parking lot.
whats one thing you regret doing to you or your car during that newb time
Those damned wheels.

Watching Option videos and other assorted JDM dvds. But I remember seeing a yellow 180sx in one of those videos and that's what did it. Only problem was I couldn't afford another car at the time (around 98 or 99). Then I was starting to save some money for a few years and the drifting thing blew up. I got pissed cause I wasnt going to buy a 240 in the midst of the whole drifting craze. So here I am almost 10 years later and had gotten over the sr20 swap (was going to use it in my nissan hardbady) and had started reading up on LS1 engines and a buddy at work told me he had a 93 S13 hatch for sale with no engine or trans for $300. Picked up the LSx from him also and so it starts...........................

what got you into s13's - 14's?
Family has been into Nissan's for a while, but what got me was......the drifting shit, saw so many hatches around this time (2003 - 2004), not to many coupes, I wanted a S13 coupe so bad after that. Then I came across the S14 which I didn't see to many of back then, either, loved the look of the zenki! Got a S14 zenki after saving up for the longest time, sold it two weeks later, and got a S13 coupe.

Ive always liked S13's but i never really would consider buying one untill i was looking for a daily driver on craigslist. i found an S13 for 800 bucks and i said well either way running or not 800 bucks is worth it. but it ended up being the exact opposite than what i needed for.... stricked track

my best friend got a SR'd s14 and i had no idea wtf that shit was. after looking into it, i thought 'oh shit this is pretty cool'. Plus the fact that I couldn't afford/find any 1999 Eclipse GSX either. I settled for one myself.

Nissans have been a family thing for us. Growing up on Guam I had a couple cousins who had s13's and a neighbor who had a zenki s14 that was absolutely clean. I used to stare at the car in his driveway whenever i would leave or pull up to the house. My dad gave his 1985 200sx (s12) to me when I got my drivers license in 1996 and I drove that thing all thru h.s.
The mid-to-late-nineties on Guam consisted of mosly riced out Hondas with cut springs, bolt-on headers and exhausts, or slammed Toyota and Nissan trucks equipped with loud ass Flowmasters. The only thing people built their vehicles for at the time was street/drag racing. The emissions regulations aren't as strict as here in California and you could run a straight pipe if you wanted.
My S12 wasn't fast enough to run with those guys but I enjoyed driving the hell out of it on the twisty roads and it was great on gas! I didn't really mod it, save for an exhaust. I heard about drifting from a h.s. soccer teammate of mine who was Japanese but my only opinion of it at the time was that it was just a waste of tires! lol
I graduated H.S. in 1998. By that time, my younger brother (2 yrs younger) also had an interest in cars but he was more ricer. He had a 1989 2.0 Prelude Si that was molested with same cut springs and ricer add-ons. He could never touch me on the twisties with his cut springs but he would smoke me off the line in a drag race. We were just different drivers with different styles. I liked grip driving and he loved dragging. I loved Nissans and he loved Hondas.
I moved to California that fall for school. Sadly, I had to leave behind my S12. The first few months in California sucked without a car. Luckily a friend at school said his dad had a car for sale but it was a shitbox and he didnt know what it was. I went over to check it out and upon looking in the driveway, I felt like I had seen a ghost. There sitting in the driveway was my old S12! Well, not my car from Guam but the exact same white hatchback! But it was automatic and the highest gear you could put it in was auto 3, but he only wanted $500 for it. Picked that baby up right away!
I drove that car to work and school for a year and half before it got stolen in Cerritos- at a laundromat of all places! So come 2000, I haven't had a car for a few mos. when someone in my neighborhood put a silver zenki s14 se for sale for only $2000! I thought not bad considering the car's only 5yrs old.
I've had the car since and she's still a blast to drive. I don't drift, though it's cool to watch all you guys do it! Just not for me. My pockets aren't deep enough to afford all the tires and upgraded parts. I might wanna try autocross once or twice. My gf always wonders why I don't just buy a newer car. I reply that I love not having a car payment. And when something major is wrong with my car, like a blown motor (I'm on my 2nd ka) I just take it to my mechanic and pay him. He's an ASE Master Technician so I have no troubles leaving it at his shop. Not to say that I don't know my way under a car. I just prefer to leave the major things to the pros who have much better tools than I.
So I still live in L.A. with my dogs, my gf, and my mistress Silvia. =)
/life story :blah::blah:
sorry for the long read guys.....well, not really.

No way. some chicks enjoy driving my 240 for whatever reason,
but it would be a stretch to claim it can create the impossible.
the 240 is more a cock magnet than anything else.
I've gotten the most female attention from my old miata,
not that it produced any meaningful results.

what got you into s13's - 14's?
I got into imports back when I was in 5th grade just that I really hated FWD Hondas (still dont like them but not as much as I used to) which everyone had. My dad had a pignose hatch which was his dd, I thought it looked cool. I started looking at the import mags but couldnt find anything (the only 240 I found was one in a JIC ad). My dad sold the car, I got my learners permit and bought a clean 91 coupe for $2300. Its currently my dd and in better condition than when I bought it.

Some what, a friend of mine likes playing with the headlights and she thinks it looks like an SW20 MR2.
I used to read super street and shit back in the 8th grade. I saw a picture of daijiro yoshiharas coupe crashing into a wall at formula d. I thought his car looked bad ass.
When I turned 16 the only car I wanted was an s13 coupe. But then I had to sell it:tweak: Probably get another one when I have the time for it.

what got you into s13's - 14's?
I've always liked the way they looked. I remember ditching school to hit the mall and play Initial D back in HS. All my friends were honda guys, so I told myself not to get one. I bought my S13 coupe in 03 and loved every minute of it. From tranny swaps on my back, to busting knuckles trying to loosen 20 year old bolts.
what was your first embarassing memory relating to your first S car?
The first day I bought my car I was driving on the freeway to show my friend my car and someone cut me off bad, so still new to the rwd I pull back hard and spin out on the freeway in rush hour traffic. I remember being in the 4th lane and some how manuvering my car all the way to the shoulder while spinning out. My heart was pumping but it felt cool at the same time. I knew what drifting was before I got me car and said f*%k it get used to it.

had always been into cars. started looking around at import magazines when i was like 14. wanted pretty much any kind of import when i turned 16, but since i'm bad at saving money parentals got me a s-10. was still always into to the import scene and had some friends that had hondas, nissans, subies, ect. one friend has a s14 with a sr20. i really feel in love with the car but when i started looking i realized i like the s13 coupes so much more. found one with a bad motor and now i'm swapping in 95ka.
my regret is not researching and planning enough ahead of time. this swap is taking way to long

In the racing simulator Live For Speed, they have cars that kinda look like FC's and truenos and such, Which at the same time I started watching Initial D. Then I got to the sileighty episode with the 2 chicks. Loved the car. Couldn't afford one at the time (or so I thought) so I bought a cressida expecting to be super JDM and get a 1jz and all that jazz and be a cool drifter.
I then realized how much money I make and how easy it is to get parts for the S13 and how much more fun they are, so I decided to ditch the Cressida and go for the S13. Oh and Colin Frost had a lot of inspiration to me as well.
