adey
11-24-2002, 03:30 AM
Thanks for posting all these head ups, charlie! I'll definitely be at that event! (as well as Dec. 7ths! I paid! woo hoo)

Dammit Adey.. you rich bastard. How can you afford all these events? You're selling crack, aren't you... yeaa... I thought so.

Dousan_PG
11-24-2002, 03:45 AM
hey! i'll be there at both events too! haha...cant wait.

revat619
11-24-2002, 04:36 AM
Man, i'd love to do that, but 1) i've never done it anyways so i would probably look like a dumb ass anyways and be laughed at and 2) my 240 is an automatic. Oh well......

adey
11-24-2002, 04:40 AM
reveatwhathever-
I've never done it either! I've never even tried donuts, so I'm not expecting to perform particularly well, either. It's all about going there and LEARNING! I can see how your automatic would be a problem, though.... 5 speed swap! I'll donate mine when I put an SR in!

Migs-
I'm not selling crack, I'm selling rims. Haha nah, I haven't gotten around to selling my rims yet, but I've been using my magic plastic CREDIT CARD! woo hoo... the wonders of debt.

aaron- nice drift tonight, I'm thoroughly impressed and look forward to the two events. We have to do this stuff (our mini-meets) more often!

MrMigs
11-24-2002, 02:35 PM
LoL I bet you have a trillion dollar dept to pay

revat619
11-24-2002, 03:27 PM
adey- ya i'd love to do the 5-speed swap, but all my money has been going toward getting my exhaust so i'm broke.

How hard would it be though, to do it with the automatic?

Its funny, i showed my mom and she actually thinks i should go

quote: "I think it would be good for you. You're all into that stuff anyways. Why not?"

ya, i'm just as surprised as you guys

adey
11-24-2002, 03:59 PM
Wow, it's cool that your mom's so supportive!
Unfortunately, I don't think it's really possible to do in an auto. As I understand it, you need to be able to select specific gears and rev them as much/little as you want, not to mention be able to kick the clutch.
hmm, if you can't drive, maybe come down to watch!

11-24-2002, 04:06 PM
revat619: yes you can do it in an automatic. you don't have to clutch kick to drift... clutch kicking is kid stuff to begin with. proper weight transfer will send your car sideways.
trust me... my benz is automatic.

revat619
11-24-2002, 04:10 PM
ya i guess i'll just go watch. It'll stil be pretty interesting. We are allowed to go and just watch right?

rev- sorry for the misinformation, I was completely unaware of auto drifting. You'd definitely be the first I've heard of, and probably the (or one of the) first auto drifter stateside.

no problem adey...i didnt think it was possible either.

well if auto drifting is possible then, what the heck, i'll give it a shot. Hey, i guess i can be the guinea pig for anybody who was thinking about attempting AT drifting. I'll either be a good example or a bad one.

so you'll let me drive ur automatic s14? i'll be willing to give it a shot... i know it's possible and doable. haha dont be fixated with japanese videos only. you should check euro-side videos as well. you'll see auto-cars tearing it up. no you're not the first auto-drifter in the states, a lot of people can drift the automatic. most of the drifting in auto-x style/gymkhana event happens on 2nd gear without clutch kicking. learn left foot braking and weight transfer.
*tip - put in 2nd (auto 2) turn in and throttle off and throttle on in turn... the rest you'll learn in dd4. hahahaha get the feel? my benz is heavy, and i have 18' brabus in it. i get sideways with it... tires are expensive though. i had my 2nd set of 18's already. so no more benz dori, that's why i have my s13.

revat619
11-25-2002, 02:55 AM
ya, i dont see why not. I'd let you drive my car, just as long as you'd be willing to pay if you broke/damaged something on my car I dont mean to sound like an ass, but i gotta protect myself you know.

Anyways, let me know when we can register for the event. I definately dont want to miss it.

hehee ok, nevermind. you said the magic word, that's why instructors hesitate to drive someonelse's car. none of us wants to be responsible if something do happen to the car neither does the club.
in any case, if you think you can learn by watching or if an instructor rides with you. then by all means, attend and sign up for the event. otherwise, you are welcome to watch.

The thing is... registration isn't even open yet! I can't find any links or anything from club4ag, so I guess I'm just gonna have to sit tight.
If you're interested, definitely sign up early.

No misleading going on, I don't think. =) I've already signed up! I found it last night around 4am as I was sleeping; I figured I'd check it one more time!
Payment sent, everything filled out. I'm stoked!!

edit: adey oWnZ page 2!! w00t w00t!

Drfthvn: What is the policy on convertibles? My friend has an FC convertible w/ coilovers... will he be allowed to drive?

Dousan_PG
11-27-2002, 04:41 PM
you friend cant drive i'm buying all the spots muhaha..kidding kidding

roll bar i bet, miatas need it

i signed up too buddy. c u there dawg
(hey i'll be danny's house sat, swing by and hang out with us and dorifto180sx!!!

adey
11-27-2002, 05:01 PM
I was hoping coilovers would be good enough to keep him planted on the ground, but expect(ed) that he might need a roll bar. That's too bad.
Drfthvn?

Aaron i will be in SD on Sat, so unfortunately I won't be able to make it, though I'd love to if I could!!

11-27-2002, 05:09 PM
i will look into that. i remember, roll cage in parking lot event is not mandatory. but i am not sure, i will find out. i'll get back to you on that. happy thanksgiving everyone!

save a turkey.. eat a chicken!

Toso
11-27-2002, 05:31 PM
Do T-Tops need to be removed for driving? Thats going to be pretty bad if it rains.

adey
12-01-2002, 03:22 AM
do we have a definitive answer for this yet? I'm afraid it's filling up while I still don't have an answer as to whether or not my friend (who I need to sign up-- he's not in the country now) can drive!

Convertible w/out roll bar. OK or NoK?

12-01-2002, 10:47 PM
yes, convertibles are ok.

12-02-2002, 11:35 AM
ok for convertibles/roadsters you don't need to have a rollcage or hardtop to run. since we wont be reaching neck breaking speed of 100mph... just 60mph. unless your car can run 100mph in a parking lot, but then if u can do that you would have invested in a roll bars already.

targa top, is cool too.. you can run with it if it rains. otherwise we prefer it off if the weather permits.
obviously, this is for fun and learning... we don't want you to be soaking wet inside the car. this is not a wet shirt contest.
but if you're a girl..... yeah top off baby. not that top.... thaaaaaaaaaaaaat top.

Toso
12-02-2002, 12:19 PM
I cant promise anything about 'Those' tops. But my girlfriend will be there most likely.

Here's a silly but legitimate question. What are the minimum age/size requirements for passengers? And no, this doenst relate to my girlfriend you sickos! Its for a friends son that wants to come along.

Thanks. (These are all questions for a friend; I'm already signed up! )

once it's full... no more late sign up with or without fee. we want to maximize seat time.

yes, posers, internet drifters, wanna be drifters, ricers, racers,
mouse drifters, cambered keyboard drifters, pic stealing posers can go and watch as long as they abide the rules and behave.

hey, if you don't mind me asking, who will the instructors be? I'm curious. People like you, Moto, hiro, Benson et al, or will you be ... (crosses fingers) ...flying drifters in from japan??
wooooo, I can smell the speculation on everyone's minds!

12-12-2002, 09:52 AM
hahahaha flying drifters? i dunno about flying drifters, the last time i checked they have no super powers.

no, we're not gonna have "flying drifters" from japan... unless ur ready to choku dori on top 3rd gear.

the "flying drifters" will be here to train us in a secret and undisclosed date and location. hahahahaha.. area 51.

adey

On a separate note, what are the specs on your car? I never did know what you had under the hood/in your wheel wells. What mods are you running power and suspension wise? (if you don't mind me asking)...

I just picked up some cross drilled rotor simulators. They're hella tight! I was thinking on running a group buy. Any interest?

I'm also running a dual tornado intake and a MAF resistor mod. My car is sooo fast now!

damn! I wanted the glowing ones too. Dousan said he had some APC hookups but it never panned out! I dont have much money so I couldnt afford the 'As seen on TV' Tornados. But Pep Boys told me the worked the same. Did I get ripped off? I have my plastic FMIC on order. I didnt have enough money to order my NA blow off. I should have enough after next pay check. I get mad props for my car everywhere I go! I'll make sure to park next to you at DD4. We can be the show division! We'll get all the honeys!

Hehe, its so much worse in person! But after having them all finaly hooked up for a few days. Its not all that hard to read them. Especially if you setup the warning lights on the gauges. I'll admit that it was insane at first. Overload! you get used to it after a few hours.

12-18-2002, 12:11 PM
hahaha seriously, for street driving probably not that hard.
but i guarantee you, on the tracks it's hard to keep up. especially with your motor... i monitor my stock motor because i wanna drive it home. even then i have a hard time keeping up with monitoring it. at least 4x per lap. hahah but it looks great at night though.....

I fully agree that its going to be a pain on the track. The warning lights work wonders though. I just have to get my fuel pressure gauge hooked up so I can get that light to go out. The best part is that I wont be running very high boost on the track. Maybe 12-15 psi. I'm not really a big fan of the way they look. The black face gauges are soooo much nicer looking. I'm actually selling these to get them if anyone is interested in them.

He'd BETTER sell them to you at a lower price than he paid! :) They're used!
What kind of gauges are they? (or did I miss that somewhere up there?)

Back on topic...

Is there a list of who's going posted anywhere yet?

Can we tech at Kaaz for this event? Would make life so much easier.

12-18-2002, 02:27 PM
unfortunately kaaz is not a sponsor in this event...
however you can either tech at the tracks for free or you can tech at kid's auto and gspeed - both are by appointments only.
but if you think you're car is track ready, i would just tech on site.

things to look for includes but not limited to: play in the steering wheel, damaged hub/bearing, battery tie down, secure fluid containers (brake, radiator, power steering reservoirs etc.) functional seatbelts,
no lose stuff inside the car (cd, floormats, maps, dolls, toys etc..)
and most of all a happy face and an open mind.

I'd donate, but I already gave Dousan my extra parts. Any use for 2 Z32 stock smic's?

I'm supposed to give Dousan his first intake this week! Damn, they grow up so fast!

12-18-2002, 02:58 PM

Ok, here's the plan. I give Dousan $600, he gives you the FMIC, you give me the seats!

Damn, I love it when a plan comes together. I need seats!

12-19-2002, 02:06 PM
sounds good to me... i guess you only want one seat.
