Car pulling to the Left really hard.
Last night I changed my own tires and put on some used Falken Ziex. ( 205/55/15)
My driver coilover wasnt locked down against the collar so i locked it down which caused the height to be a little uneven (lower on driver) After the tires went on my car just yanks to the left and If i get on the gas heavy and hit boost the car like goes all directions on the road and feels really bad.. I ordered new outer tie rods because they have some play at the joint (They go on this afternoon, both sides) Any other ideas what to check to get this fixed.. Before i swapped rubbers the car didnt pull any direction like this it drove pretty true aside from some shaking from the play in the knuckles. Any info is appreciated. Car Info: 1990 S13 Hatch Ka-T Coilovers all around (never any problems) |

Uhh, fix the height so it's the same, first.
Maybe you've got too much toe out, if there's tie rod or balljoint problems. Get it all fixed and get an alignment. Tires can make your car pull. Uneven wear, or more tread on one side, or a directional tire installed backwards, can all do it. Check that your tires are all installed the correct direction for the side of the car they're on, and that both your front and both your rear tires are the same type and size. If the tires are directional, I'd put my money on you having a left and right swapped diagonally, so one of your front and one of your rears is right, and the other 2 are opposite of how they should be. |

The tires have uneven wear. Its pulling to the left because that tire has more tread.

I checked before installing they are not directional. I adjusted the height as well and still the same.
New tie rod ends are going on to fix the ball joint play at the knuckle. Im gonna try putting the tires onto the rear and see if it acts different. Worst comes to worst I go buy new set of tires. Been meaning to lol. If there is anything else you guys can think of that could be bent or something to check let me know Im tearing the whole front down this afternoon. Switched the front left tire btw and still did it.. |

Make sure the tire pressures are equal, when both sides are the same temp (like one hasn't sat in the sun or anything). Even if you can't fix it right, if you don't really care about those tires, you can adjust for it with pressure. Higher pressure means lower rolling resistance, so you can increase the side that pulls and decrease the side that doesn't, just a couple psi each makes a huge change. Maybe you have a dragging brake. Check that the rotors and pads are all worn equally, blah blah blah. Maybe you slipped a wrench or something and knocked the brake when you where fixing the coilover. You say you changed them yourself, you mean you mounted them? is it possible a rim got bent or knocked out of true? Where you able to balance them? Are all the beads seated correctly and evenly? |

Beads are seated properly. I dont believe the rim was bent tires came off pretty easy. Used soap for setting them onto rim and high air pressure to seat bead at 27psi before inflating to 37.
This is about the 10th time ive changed a pair of tires for this car. I only fucked with the Coils because one was shaking in the threaded area because it wasnt locked... Im thinking something is broken on either the right or left or bent. Ill move the rear tires up front and see what happens. |

I would have your alignment checked, if you did not get the height it exactly back to where it was that could throw it off. How are your tension rods and LCA bushings/ball joints?

Check alignment, also a tie rod won't fix ball joint play, but a ball joint will. Also could just be a tire pull. Bad tire? Used tires are a gamble. Start with what you can fix that's wrong with the car/possibly wrong with the car. (ball joint/control arm/alignment) then put some new tires on it. Also remember too, that it seems that the pull didn't start until...... The used tires were put on. So even right there, it points to the issue.

air pressure could also cause it to pull. recently my wife said her car was pulling hard, turns out the pressure was wayy off. ALWAYS check the free/cheap stuff first!
