95 S14 OBD 1 and 96 S14 OBD 2 ECU and Lower Harness Differences (KA24DE)
I have a tech question, Is there a difference between the two KA ECUs as I have an OBD 1 95 S14 that I just completed a auto to manual swap in and when I attempt to start it just turns over? I'm using an OBD 2 Manual ECU from a 96 S14. The starter plugs are different at the engine bay fuse box. The OBD 1 Lower Harness has a 2 Pin Plug and the OBD 2 Lower Harness has a 3 Pin Plug. So that it's converted right, what do I need to check and change?

Sorry For the Confusion
Forgot to state that I had an ECU from an OBD 2 96 S14 KA24DE. What are the differences from the 95 OBD 1 and 96 OBD 2 ECUs? Also the Starter wire from the OBD 2 Lower Harness has a 3 Pin Plug where as the OBD 1 Lower Harness has a 2 Pin Plug. Does anyone have the Wiring Diagram or Wire Color Directory for what color wire goes to what between the pins on the lower harnesses?

Thanks, I'm trying to convince Chase Bay to the market year specific upper and lower harnesses. Anyone that knows 240s, know that the 95 model year has a specific set of upper and lower harnesses unique to only that year. 95/96 my ass! Lol, check the sensors of the upper and the starter plug of the lower. OBD 1 vs. OBD 2! OBD 1 has the capabilities of OBD 2 but simplified with less crap like additional sensors. (IE emissions) Some of us can't avoid that BS and have to resort to having our shit tested. Any techs wanna tackle my questions and statements?

You're not going to be reading from a LOT of sensors wired for OBDII compliance. Is your CEL on? Are you using the Auto or Manual ECU right now? |

Hrmm. This is kinda off topic and thread jacking lol but if I have an OBD1 car but I put a tranny from a OBD2 into my car i should be running with a OBD1 manual ecu right? Or do I have to do a OBD2 swap? Tranny shouldnt matter right?

Over the years we have seen hundreds of 95 ecus, we would have seen an obd2 one by now if there was one because our nistune board would not fit or work. Sent from my rooted Incredible using tapatalk |

I know this is old but I still have some questions. I have been reading on this cause I want to use either a rom tuned ecu with a conversion harness or add a daughter board to my ecu and get a chip burner. I'm just looking at the most cost effective way. I have a 95, some say there are 95 OBD I but I have read some threads on various forums that say [B]ALL[B] S14s are OBD II. These threads state that its not a matter of OBD II or I but what they called "odd ball" ecu's. They say a blue connector on the ecu is the same as a S13 OBDI KADE which will accept a daughter board even though its still OBD II. A white connector is the same as 96-98 ecu that will not allow install of a daughter board. I'm trying to figure out the differences in the pin diagram on these two to see if a conversion harness is needed. Anybody have any ideas.

Still lost, I have a 96 ecu for my 95 s14. Car doesn't turnover, is it because i have to change some wiring around?

You have an obdii port, without the full obd2 capability. It is obd1 you could not have emissions tested with obd2, you would still have to do a sniffer because your ecu does not support the readyness tests

So since the diagnose is read from the obd2 port "egr solenoid" is that a correct reading? |
