so i was in a hurry to change out my starter on my ka in my 91s13 and i didn't disconnect the battery cables(i know really stupid). well it sparked a couple times when tightening it down and i think i blew a fuse or 2 or 3. my clock doesn't keep time. my speedo doesn't work anymore and my flip ups won't go down now. anybody know what would be causing this any specific fuse or multiple ones?

It seems dumb to post that in the forum, when simply checking fuses with a tester or multimeter would answer your problem faster. The starter is not fused (gets power straight from the batt), so sparking it doesn't blow any fuses. You may have caused other damage though by energizing the grounds, but most stuff has diode protection to prevent damage from that.

Sounds like you should check all your interior fuses, and hope that that's the problem.

There's no fuse protection for reversing current - that's what diodes do. Depending on what you mean by "sparked a couple times", you could have damaged some of the more sensitive circuits. I don't know - there's really no way to tell.

So you only checked 40% of the fuses in your car? Why not check the other 60% under the hood? That would be my guess, since the current grounded to the starter would have blown a lot more than a few 15A circuits.

...well i did check the other 60% as well. and nothing is blown. i got my head lights to go back down but clock still isn't retaining time. not too terribly worried. but could be a more seious underlying problem.
