Ka24de start up help
I've searched numerous times for my issues but haven't found a solution yet. Car acts like it is flooding upon start up. I have to give it throttle to prevent the car from shutting off when trying to start it. Once it stops trying to bog down and die, it runs fantastic but occasionally will go up to 1500 rims and stay there. Car drives great and doesn't try to die once being drive. All issues are at start up. Gives plenty of smoke at start up that smells like raw gas from rich condition at start up.
Replaced/ done so far: Injectors checked for leaks Injectors ohmed- all measure the same No vacuum leaks found New fuel pump New plugs Maf works (same issue if maf is unplugged) Still need to borrow an ecu to verify I'm ok there. Where else do you suggest I go from here? I hated to ask but I could not find the same issue covered exactly and know this forum hates to answer the same questions which is why I searched for a while before posting. |

Currently every cold start. To begin with it was only after I had driven it and then let it sit for 15+ minutes and tried to restart it which made me think injector leaking but I took the rail off and turned the ignition and saw no leak.
Also fuel filter has been replaced as well. |

Noticed something today. I have an adjustable fpr with gauge and am running a walbro 255 pump. I had set the fuel pressure to 34 and noticed it's now reading 28 after warming up. The car had been sitting about a year before I started trying to get it running again. Think the screen for the filter may be somewhat clogged causing this maybe or is that a stretch?

If your car is running the same with the MAF unplugged, then it is NOT operating properly and this is most likely your issue. IIRC if you unplug the MAF at idle then the car should either die or go into limp mode.

Ok which is it? Just searching I've read equal amount saying if it goes away when you unplug the maf then it's the maf as ice read if it persists then it's the maf. I'll check voltages on it this weekend.

If you unplug the MAF while the car is idling, the car should die, or run worse, if you un plug it and it doesn't change anything about how the car is operating then it is faulty. Have you pulled codes from your ecu?

Ecu is throwing code 13, coolant temp sensor. Going to replace it tomorrow but not getting my hopes up as I've been down that road before. Going to check the voltage on the maf tomorrow as well

Replaced all the above. Trying to get ahold of a working coolant temperature sensor. Assumed the new one I bought yet I checked continuity and it read 0 instead of the range it should have.
