Get away with murder in cali thread *any state that strict on engine mods*
ok well not murder thats stupid,.. lol
but ok, thought it would be a cool ass thread or even some cool tech on being able to mod your stuff in strict areas and still get away with it by making stuff look less noticible. Driving a stock motor is borring. Besides painting everything black, what else is there? Ive painted the chrome trim black on an air filter before. Im debating to paint my hks top mount ic in my fc just so it wont stand out soo much *as much as id hate to do that*. Super stock SR swaps could possibly pass? maybe paint the valve cover silver like KA? Maybe when rocking an electric fan, leave the big fan shroud? i dunno. Im thinking it would be pretty cool tuning game to do the most mods and still look factory stockish.

I can't think of much really, other than keep it a dull color. Black piping etc, painting the valve cover might be an idea, since lolred screams "i probably don't belong here." Hell, if your engine bay is dirty, they'll probably not even really examine it. I've been hood popped with my KA, and the notice it's a bit dirty in there and don't even bother looking around.

ill try to find this again but i saw a civic (i think it was a EK) in a article that was turbo and all the piping was made hidden inside stock airfilterbox and everything... no pipes visible from the engine bay view... it looked stock! i dont think it had like very much upgrade in performance but it did look nice and stock...

yeah keep everything sort of dirty not all shinny, not always flat black means stock something a bit more greyish or satin like gives a more 'plastic' oem look to it also... and about muffler everybody things painting them black makes them look oem, police over here tend to look more at black cause they know your hiding somethig... a bit silverish maybe something that could look rusted give the look of ou well its just a beat up car with old exhaust forget about it...

it was a really nice job like i said it looked completly stock not even a cone filter or anything visible and cops wouldnt search for a turbo or even a filter if they see the big ass box stock cars come with... on new celicas and scion xb its really easy to hide everything and make it look like it has nothing really... cause ive worked on turbo made celicas and all the piping was fabbed to run under the engine sortof(no other way to run it without starting to eliminate stuff) and the intake on the turbo can be left behind the engine (next to the firewall) and the piping that goes from the front mount to the intercooler goes in the same way the stock filter goes so if u cut up the stock airbox it could be just put on top of the piping, or you could use a injen carb legal as the intake tube (modify the end cause its hidden in the bumper) the blowoff could either go inside the stock airbox or hidden in the bumper next to the cooler... since the exhaust manifold is on the back facing the firewall you could fab up a metal sheet to look like a stock heatshiel and paint it dark so its harder to see at night... the xb is sort of the same when i worked on a turbo one i saw an easy way to hide everything even the front mount is hidden behind the stock grills... |

I dont know why people are laughting at that idea, i think its a great idea. Another thing i was thinking off, since i have a front mount and i didnt paint any of the IC pipes black, i was thinking of grabbing some OEM looking plastic or rubber tubing and just kinda like wrap it around the IC pipes. As for my BOV i'm gonna paint it black most likely and recirculate it.

if you could make that topmount say mazda or something on top and the piping sort of cast or flimsy oem plastik looking you could pull of a its stock! look it even says mazda! all the blue and colorful things just paint it or cover it... if u wanna go overkill on hiding, hide the filter inside a stock box and stuff like that oh and singlecamslam (couldnt quote you wrote after i finished this message) were not laughing as in making fun, i laughed because i myself have taken a cover of a car and put it on top of another engine as fun of covering everything it has... and yeah the taking plastik tube or something isnt that bad but the blowoff you could hide it someplace you cant easily see it... like next to the front mount like on some setups and like sidemounts that the blowoff goes on the IC and you cant see it from the engine view... |

1. Rubber tubing around intercooler pipes
2. Paint intercoolers black with that radiator paint stuff 3. recirculate bov's and paint them black and hide them out of site as much as possible 4. No visible gauges that cops can see. Hide them in a ash tray or glove box 5. use black everything in engine bay - no blue vacuum lines etc. 6. Heatshields are your friend. Try to make a heatshield to cover aftermarket mani if possible. 7. Keep your fan shroud on. 8. Factory as possible exhausts and add a extra resonator or muffler and then dirty it up, paint it black, or scratch up the tips to where its not shiny at all. 9. Sr owners make the valve cover look like a KA valve cover as much as possible. 10. Keep the shell of a cat convertor around a test pipe. 11. Keep engine bay dirty and not super clean. 12. No stickers pertaining cars or car part makers 13. Use as little window tint as possible because cops love to use the window tint excuse as a reason to pull you over then they go on to ask about mods etc. 14. Keep stock body, stock tailights, stockish looking seats. Cause what attracts attention to begin with is the looks of the car. Or just tell a cop your other car is a mustang or camaro and this is your 4 cylinder japanese commuter car and that you love Tom Petty, Nascar, and American Made products hahaha And damn that red civic = really flying under the radar. Props to whoever modified that civic.

I've been popped on a stock blacktop swap before.
Cops thought it was stock. But in the end, you'll get caught, so whatever. Just buy a dirt cheap DD and don't worry about all this bs.

um its a rotary, the cops won't know what the fuck theyll be looking at anyway, nevermind be able to tell if its modded!
get the plastic cover out of a subaru legacy turbo (2006 and up) and take off the suby b/s and it should work with the top mount.
