weird trans noise...
i was driving one day and decided to down my car. when i went to upshift i couldnt get into gear and my clutch pedal went straight to the floor without comming back up. the noise only comes when i step all the way on the clutch, in gear or not. changed the clutch master and slave. there was no leaks to begin with but just thought to change it out. when car is off it feels normal the pedal would have a lil pressure to come back up but not fully but nothing like when the car is on. while im driving the clutch grabs fine and can get into gears easy its just when i go on the clutch pedal all the way it makes the noise but i can still shift. anybody have any ideas before i start dismembering my transmission??? was thinking its the throwout bearing, possibility???

could be 3 different things list in order of most likely to fail
any way you look at it... you will need to drop the trans. might as well insert a new clutch, pressure plate, Throw Out Bearing, Pilot Bushing and maybe even the Input shaft bearing. sooner is better or else............. u cant say: because i told you so... glw the maintenance

If it makes the noise only when you depress the clutch pedal it is most likely the throwout bearing.
If it makes the noise only when the clutch pedal is all the way to the floor and the noise goes away when the pedal is released slightly then the clutch is over travelling. That could be due to a mis-adjusted clutch pedal rod. The clutch pedal should have about 1/2 inch of free play, NOT including any looseness in the clutch pedal bushings. With the clutch pedal rod adjusted too long, which is what my cause this problem, the clutch will also be likely to slip as there will always be pressure in the system. |
