I'm looking at Kosei K1s very closely because they seem to be a great rim at a great price... whereas Buddy Club P1s seem like a great rim at a not-so-great price. Does anyone have information on the differences between the K1 and P1 rims? Is there any difference at all?

I've been told (and I don't believe this) that Buddy Club P1s "are actually made by Kosei anyway" (I'm paraphrasing) but I find that VERY hard to believe.
If anything, I imagine that Kosei K1s are Buddyclub P1 rejects that don't have any obvious, blaring flaws, but may have been deemed not up to the quality standards of Buddy Club.

Is there an article or thread that talks about this in detail? I'd be interested to see cross-sections (macro photographs) of the two rims to compare the 'patterns' in the forging/casting processes. (like that really cool BBS ad in Optiton mag etc.)

Kosei = USDM
Buddy Club = JDM

there are only two kinds of people who buy BC:
1) they are JDM-whores
2) they live in japan

but just for clarification, the Kosei's are copies of the BC's, but when it comes down to it.. who really cares? they look the same, weigh the same, i would image are of the same quality (tnord, i believe, has k1's so ask him) and they can fit the 300z brakes behind them

'copies' would imply that they are each made by a different manufacturer. This isnt true, kosei's are not a copy of buddy clubs. Buddy club buys their wheels from kosei manufacturer and slaps their sticker on it... just like how spoon wheels are regamaster evo wheels with a spoon sticker. they are the SAME THING, NOT a copy. they are the same weight, same quality, same everything because they are the same wheel.

hmmm...that sounds very appealing, would you happen to know if they will fit behind 15" K1s?

Plan B is correct: Buddy Club P1 racing rims are made by Kosei for buddy club. The 2 are EXACTLY the same rim, with the exception of removable stickers separating the two.

If you are interested, I am selling 2 Kosei k1's. Check out the classifieds, or email at [email protected]

So does Kosei also make the Buddy Club P-1 Racing II and P1-QF? What other wheels do Kosei manufacture? I've never seen any "kosei" wheel other than the K-1.

A few questions to this topic:

1) I am aware that the Buddy Clubs and Kosei's are the same wheel, but was under the impression that the Kosei's have a smaller range of sizes, widths, and offsets available here in the US. For example - If I wanted a certain size for the Kosei's, that wasn't sold here.. I'd have to import it from BC Japan, right?

2) The Kosei's are not sold on Tire Rack anymore, right? One would have to find that model somewhere else now... even possibly have it imported from Japan?

Any info is appreciated.

1) you are correct. Kosei only chose to import a selection of sizes, most likely the most popular offsets.

2)cant answer that one. sorry.

Are you looking for a set of kosei k1's? Im itching to do a 5 lug swap... might be willing to part with my wheels/tires if the price was right.

16x7.5 +32 kosei k1, painted flat black (paint job is quality). I use 6mm spacers around to give it a super flush look. with the spacers, clears coilovers and z brakes. I have 225/50/16 Bridgestone RE730 tires on them with %95 percent tread left... very good tire.

sorry for hijacking this thread

kosei's are sweet, i'm sure you know what they look like by now. the only thing i don't like is that the hub-centric ring is cheap plastic. mine melted in half at the track and i had to drive home on the spare.
