s13 ka24E a/c on Ka24DE motor question

So i have succesfully bolted up a ka24E a/c system to an s13 dual cam motor and it is ready to go but I was told that i need to dump a specific amount of oil into the compressor b4 charging the system with r134a. Does any one know how much oil and what kind to load into the compressor? btw for those interested in keeping their A/c after a DOHC swap you will need to chop up the sohc ac bracket and run the compressor on the same belt as the alternator

Some pictures would be nice, I've tried doing the same thing installing a SOHC compressor on my DOHC motor but it didn't work. Are you sure the compressor is empty of oil? There is a label on the compressor, I believe it is 8 oz. If you are running R-134a they have the oil at any auto parts store, also are you filling it up yourself? If you are you will have a higher head pressure which means you cannot run the same or adequate amount of refrigerant to actually cool down properly. That is because the metering device is designed for R-12 which has completely different pressures, but good luck.

ill try to get some pictures up soon, i ended up chopping off the top left mount for the compressor kept trimming it down till it fit around the power steering bracket but mind you i dont know how this will hold up structurally. i'm assuming it'll hold up as long as the bottom mounts for the compressor can take the stress. Also a little side note, so far everything clears my turbo set up on my dual cam xD

So maybe if i put a little bit less oil i can get an addequate amount of refridgerant built up to get it cooling properly?

The amount of refrigerant is not the issue, the issue goes to the type of restriction the metering device has for the what refrigerant is in the system. The original refrigerant used in our cars was R-12, when you retrofit to R-134a that metering device needs to be changed. The metering device is in the evaporator coil.

It cools ok the way it is but I still want to find where to get the proper metering device.

So I'd need to swap the single cam expansion valve for one out of a dual cam?

I believe the only dual cam that has R-134a is the s14 but I don't know if it would fit our cars. If you buy one and it does work please let us know.

Ok, so I was working on what size belt to run for the ac and alternator and I realized that it's going to rub up on the water pump. I'm going to make this work somehow but I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to put a tensioner pulley somewhere to avoid hitting the water pump? If not then I'm prbly gonna file down the water pump. I'm working on getting pics.

Some pics would definitely help, there already should be a tensioner pulley on the a/c bracket.

Unfortunately i recently moved and had to leave my s13 at my parents house until i can get the ac in, so i only work on it during the weekends when i go back. right now these are the only pictures i have of the brackets. the issue with using the tensioner on the ac bracket is that the higher side of the belt is what needs to go around the tensioner. If i did that then the lower side would be rubbing against it. At least from what i remember when i checked last week. Im considering using a less wide belt and just letting it rub against the water pump and see what happens.

Im still working on getting my 240 moved over to my place so I haven't made much progress, I still need to find a 3 rib belt big enough to run the compressor and the alternator
