Dual Flex-A-Lite Fans Stay On & Drain battery? Help?

Hey Guys,

So I searched the forums and found one dude had some type of similar problem but no answers for him, hoping you guys can help.

I bought my car already built last year -- SR20 (red top I believe) S13 chassis -- convertable -- anyways, the car has run perfect until yesterday I got caught in a rainstorm came home parked the car and the fans were still on like normal, though they did seem to stay on longer than usual.

Thought nothing of it, but apparently they were on all night, this morning the battery was dead. Got a new battery as soon as I connected the wires to the new battery -- the fans came back on.

They wouldn't go off so I reached down and disconnected two wires running from the dual FAL fans and that turned them off. But as soon as I plug those wires back in the fans come back on and don't go off like they're supposed to.

I have no idea how the car is wired (I didn't build it) -- anybody got any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks,
CAleb

Find out how it's wired, and trace to see what triggers it (fan controller or the relay etc etc)

PO probably has a DIF controller Probably a Version D model,
If so the DIF controller relays have metled (due to the fans high amp draw) causing the relays to stay on.
Follow the fan wires and it should lead you to a black box, If it Says DIF on it then you need to get another one.

I reccomend the DIF PWM controller its rated for 60amps (Version D is only 25amps)
great controller love mine so far

Thanks for the quick response guys.

I am going to check this out. I tried following the wires from the fans up under the car, but they go back up and disappear under the battery, behind the passenger side headlight -- so I don't see any box that says "DIF" on it.

I'll keep looking though and try to figure it out, again I can't believe how fast you guys responded so thanks!

Could it be connected someplace else if it's not a DIF controller?

Thanks!

Does the fan comes on and off when you turn on/off the car before the problem occurred? If so, you may not have a controller after all.

Wires will not disappear. You need to try harder and trace where the wires get their power from. Unplug the fan plug and pull the wire out until you see a relay/controller.

If you are lazy, you should just ask the dude who sold you the car...

You really need to figure out where the wires are wired into... Based off the information you gave us I have no leads...
