ISIS Radiator vs.....

I'm in the need for a new radiator and was wondering if anyone has had any issues with the isis radiators and/or hoses?

*ISIS Radiator Cooling Package - Nissan 240sx KA24DE 95-98 - Enjuku Racing Parts, LLC

Or any recommendations would be greatly appreciated I'm also going with efans

The video at the bottom of the Enjuku page is of me installing the radiator and fans into my '95. I've had no problems with the radiator or fans since installing them last year. I will be picking up a set of the ISIS hoses in the next couple of weeks also. My old hoses finally have met their time.

Awesome! So how did you wire the fans? Into the ignition?

The previous owner of my car had one electric fan and he ran the trigger off the wiper motor harness. It has a wire that has power turned on with the ignition. The constant power is inside the distribution box in the engine bay. That is running one of the fans. I haven't wired the second fan yet, but it will be triggered off a switch from the inside center console so I can control it when I would need it on only.

Only run 2 when A/C is needed? I was reading about this but I'm assuming people are running with both efans running constantly. Is this not a good idea?

Actually the original topic was referencing radiators..the efans was additional

So don't be trolling

And if people in Arizona and Florida, where I live, run efans with no issues then I'm going to try it.

Why? What benifit are you getting? Or is it just cause everybody else does so your going to? Now your going to have wires, fuses, and relays running around waiting to fail you when you can just have your shroud and clutch fan and don't bave to worry about stuff failing

Why are you getting worked up over a question? I plan on dropping an ls1 into my 240sx.

Ls1.... Now it makes sense. Im forced to do the same. But for now you have a ka. No point in the fan. Just leave it stock. Save money. I'm undergoing my ls swap. Have your number you think your going to spend. And times it by two and some. Then the swap will get done

Good luck.

My radiator is leaking, hoses need replacing, and clutch fan is falling off. That is why I originally asked the radiator question because the isis comes with everything.

Enjuku will be doing my ls1 swap...but I need these minor issues fixed so I can at least drive my s14

With a properly bled and maintained cooling system, either with e-fans or the clutch fan the temps will be in roughly the same area. Depending on weather conditions and how you drive.

Who cares why he want's to run whatever fan, it's all personal preference. Oh and clutch fans CAN fail too!

Get the Isis setup! It's probably the best bang for your buck deal. You shouldn't have any issues with it other than your fans failing at a way later date. It's not rocket science making a radiator or some hoses. If you do get the setup I would get some sort of thermostat controller to control the fans coming on and off. Otherwise they will burn up a lot sooner if they stay on the whole time the car is on.

Awesome! Any recommendations on a brand of a thermostat controller? I found one on frsport.com but it has been discontinued

Seems like this would be perfect to control the fans
Buy Imperial Adjustable Thermostatic Fan Control 226204 at Advance Auto Parts

Yeah they came out with a newer model IIRC! It should be on frsport as well.

That would work perfectly fine and it's a helluva lot cheaper than the DIF controllers on frsport.

I still need to invest in a thermostat controller for my dual e fan setup. When I bought my s14 it had one single e fan on it, but a year later it burnt up after being wired to come on with the car and only go off when the car was turned off. I still have my new fans wired that way but I plan to change that soon.

OK thanks for the input. I'm on the hunt for that IIRC thermostat controller then.

Maybe the way you do things. I have multiple redundancies in my electrical system so I wont ever be stuck.

Your 20+ year old plastic clutch fan is a time bomb. Ever had a clutch fan take a shit? I have. Take a look at your fan, i bet it has nice little cracks in between every blade. No big deal now, but those just get bigger and bigger.
I used to run the clutch, yes it is the optimum cooling set-up. But i own a boosted KA, i'm always fucking with shit. The clutch fan and shroud are a pain in the ass when doing many things on your car.
Relays failing? All my relays are still oem and they outlasted the clutch fan?

Ever drop a VC bolt or similar while having a clutch fan? Maybe if you're a 7 year old starving child from Sudan reaching down past the clutch is cake, but if not, that bitch is annoying as fuck.
I have e-fans now and the headache they prevent is much greater than the initial headache they can produce to install (which isn't hard) As long as you get some decent fans.

FYI

I just finished installing this today and works. At first I was like the fans aren't working WTF?!?!?! Took a drive and then opened to hood to find the fans spinning.

I wired the yellow wire, the ignition wire, right into the radio fuse and works like a charm. Also installing the isis radiator was a breeze!!! Removing the clutch fan wasn't but we got it done!!!!

Tomorrow is making the wires look pretty!!!!

BTW I want to thank you for your videos. The radiator install and changing the led lights on the ac unit. Next will be changing the lights on the cluster.

Went with the cheap advance auto parts setup. Couldn't find a DIF controller any where. No pics just yet since I was testing and the fans did not turn on so I took a leap of faith and drove the car back to my house. 10+/- min drive back to see if the fans would turn on. Got home and the fans were spinning. When the engine cooled down, they turned off. The advance auto parts setup has a thermostat type plug that you install close to the upper radiator hose then connected the only ignition based item I know to their yellow cable, the radio.

I'll post pics up tomorrow.

I think the better response would be to 'show us' how your setup works better.

Clutch fans are bulky, loud, and in the way. That alone was enough to make me switch. With 30 some odd track days under my belt, I can assure you that I've never EVER had an overheating issue with Altima fans.

Sure a clutch fan works fine...it's almost failsafe...but I can't stand them being in the way.
