kae crank, rods, pistons in kade?

like it says is it a straight swap? I have tried to find the info on this and all i can find is that if you use the kae pistons it increases the compression on the de motor. I also found that the earlier motors came with forged rods and the e motors not only had forged rods but also forged pistons. can anyone verify this? What i am wondering is i have a kade motor in my car now that i spun a rod bearing in. and i have access to a good kae motor with a blown head gasket. What i want to know can i put the crank rods and pistons from the e motor in my de (obviously with new seals and bearings and honing it) will it straight bolt in? and what kind of compression will it be running then? i eventually plan to go big for boost to hit the 400 mark but have not finished peicing together my stuff and want my car back on the road and at the track. please help me out.. or maybe you can guide me to where i can find out this info.. thanks

I have always been wondering this as well. I've heard the connecting rods were forged. I never heard about the pistons though.

ok so after alot of research and alot of phone calls i found out that the e motr and the de motor both have the same block crank and rods. so i should be able to just swap the head and timing stuff then slap it back in and drive it. The only thing im a bit concerned about right now is that with the upgraded compression ratio what kind of added tunning will i need? i figured to increase fuel pressure to say 45lbs or so. but any other tips for now? anything i need to do or can i run a stock ecu?

well who ever told you that the blocks are the same lied to you. YOU CAN NOT PUT A SOHC KA HEAD ON A DOHC KA BLOCK. As for putting a sohc crank rods and pistons in it. The rods and pistons will work, but the cranks are slightly different enough to where you cant interchange the

im still doing homework seems there is a conflict with the timing covers.. im not 100% sure though.. it can be done for sure though found several instances where it has been done.. just not sure all that you need to swap yet.. im looking and trying to learn.. before i dig in..

just stick with your de. use the connecting rods from the e motor if they are infact forged and just replace your rod bearings and keep stock pistons.

it would be alot more than that .. if i decided to use the e rods and pistons i would have to re-hone and rering on top of have to get a new crank and bearings.. and plus i want to be able to use my de block to slowly do a build on.. i am planning for boost. and dont want to spend alot of money rebuilding something that im just gonna rebuild again later.. i have all these other parts to make this work for free.. minus some time.. and then ill have my bad de motor sitting there ready to be hot tanked, bored, honed, built and then reinserted for boost..

have you ever looked at the motors side by side? its very obvious the blocks are not the same, not to mention the timing chain setup, coolant and oil passages, where some of the accessories bolt, etc. if u have access to a kae, just replace the head gasket, then get a kae wireharness and ecu, as the de stuff isnt compatible without work. just find yourself another kade to drop in and save yourself alota time and effort, otherwise u"ll just have to undo everything you did when u swap back.

the only part i know of that is interchangable between the 2 is the pistons, and yes it makes a higher compression engine using the sohc pistons in the dohc engine. as for tuning idk, as thats not my area, but it was using nistune.

The rods and pistons are interchangeable, but will create a high compression setup (approx. 11:1 depending on decking/head gasket thickness etc.).

The crank used in the KA24E has the same exact part numbers as those used in the KA24DE.

Boosting it from that point is then unfeasible unless at the very minimum you go back to DE pistons to lower the compression again, if not aftermarket forged pistons

Its definately a nice easy way to get forged internals though.

That's what I was saying. I know your gonna need new piston rings and the bearings. Its not that big of a deal to do.

Or you could just fix the single cam and swap it in and then build up your dual.

If your boosting the de don't use the kae pistons there is not point the de ones are dished and the kae are not you will be safer using the de ones

And one more thing if you want to make some what na power using your de you could do the 91kade hot cams on both sides kae rods and pistons port and polish the head z32 maf. And a afc and you'll be tits

ok.. first .. i know you cant boost or shouldnt boost a high compression motor.. this isnt my first rodeo.. my daily is a 410whp ford focus that i built from the ground up.. 2nd.. it will bolt up.. the only problem there is, is the timing stuff.. apparently you have to use a upper timing chain cover from a frontier and the e lower cover. Im trying to save my self extra work and save money.. there is are a few post i have found on nico where people have done this. it still seems to be a mythical creature though...lol.. i think people are scared to do it or something... i think the guy at the dealership was wrong with giving me the part #s on the e block and the de block.. because like i have found and others have said the timing chain covers dont match up. if they were the same part they would just swap straight across.. im just gonna go a head and do it.. worst case scenario it doesnt fit and i get me another de motor.. I dont really care about getting much more power from the stock motor right now.. but if i can do it for free then why not.. and i have discovered that only the early e motors like early89 e motors are the ones with the pistons that give the de motor 11.7 compression all others are not as high they give 11.1 which is still high.. but they changed the e pistons after early months of 89 and they had more of a concave to them.. the whole point of this is to get my car back on the road with little or no money and then to leave me with a good block to rebuild for high boost applications.. maybe ill do a how to.. with pics and all.. the only ones i could find werent really how tos and the pics were gone.. but jsut so you all know it can be done.. several people have done it with great success and it pushes the stock motor upwards of 180-200 hp... So now the only thing i need to find out is about the tuning of the motor after-wards. can i just boost up the fuel pressure or do i need to swap injectors and turn down the fuel pressure.. sorry if i sounded rude.. this is not my intention..
