Hmm...Ebrake light wont turn off
This isn't some crazy problem that needs to be fixed, but it's starting to drive me crazy haha.
The other day I was sliding around the back lot the shop my dad works at (Nice, big lot full of tire marks already so they don't care if a few friends and I go back there ) Anyway, while I was mid-slide, my Ebrake light suddenly turned on. I had not touched the ebrake to initiate. And now it hasn't turned off since haha. I do have my HKS turbo timer tapped into the signal wire for the ebrake, but it's been like that since the swap 6 months ago. I checked the connections, and nothing has changed. I know it's not a big deal at all, but that little light on all the time annoys me! Anything in particular I should be looking at to find out why the light is staying on? Thanks. |

keep in mind i'm assuming you have an S13
check all your grounds, like the one under the fuse box in the engine bay the one going to the alternator. the ones near the rad support also make sure your alt is healthy and pushing out 14v GL with your trouble shooting let me know what happens -los

Ah, yes it is an S13. Sorry, shoulda included that haha.
Thanks for the responses. I'll check grounds and fluid as soon as I get out of class. Voltage at the Turbo Timer (according to the timer) is 13.4. I haven't started poking around checking for voltage at the alternator or anything yet though. |

do you have anything hard wired?
like your turbo timer or E-Fans? also check your engine cont. fuse in the engine bay near the coolant over flow tank -los

This is likely it. Add some brake fluid. Try the simple things first before you go tearing out the center console. That light doubles as the low brake fluid light.

As previously said you could be low on fluid, or your switch might not be making full contact. But pull the brake fluid cap off and make sure the sensor in it moves freely and isnt stuck.

Thats because you were low on fluid. As the brakes wear the piston pushes further out from the caliper, and it takes more fluid to fill the void behind the piston. When you put new pads on the piston gets pushed back into the caliper and that extra brake fluid goes back into the reservoir.

Since you said the light turned on when you were sliding , It does sound like its going need some brake fluid. Check your brake pads while your at it. If thats not the problem then its the E-brake swicth thats faulty, it happened to a person I go to school with.
