KW Variant V3 + Tein Camber Plates (S13)
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on what I would need to do to get the Tein Camber Plates to work with the KW V3 coilovers?
I've been doing some research and couldn't seem to find any specifics on this. I understand that the KW's are supposed to be run with the OEM top hats but I would like to put on camber plates. Also the reason I don't go with the KW camber plates is because they're quite costly. |

The right way to do it (for any coilover) is to get some sort of radial bearing spring hat, and then run the camber plate on top of that. Most don't come with that option, but it's the proper way to set it up.
All you should need is the tein plates. If the V3s work with stock hats they prob use a 12mm shaft and the teins should just more or less bolt on. At worse you will have to order a couple bushings from mcmaster carr to make it work, but I suspect not. Like so: . That's a lot of stack height set up like that, but you can probably use fewer washers/spacers. |

It's not going to be cheap. The point about the radial bearing is correct but you can get away with just a conical perch. Then you need a spacer and possibly one of cusco's pillow ball nuts.

You can buy tube nuts on ebay for $10/pr in the right thread pitch.
In that vein, I'd throw ebay camber plates on before spending the money on tein. Less stack height, too. |

They should just bolt on and stack up to the same heighth as the stock upper mounts which is what the coilovers were designed for.
You guys are getting a bit over complicated for what this guy's looking for. Screwing with the stack heighth of the upper mount assembly in order to maximize travel doesn't seem to be what the dude's interested in. Those coils were designed for stock upper mounts, Tein mounts will stack up about the same and should work with no drama. |

This is true but when you use the eccentric to add camber, you may run into the issue where the wheel/tire hits the spring. Many times to make clearance for 17x9 +25 ish wheels, people pull camber from the bottom eccentric and then add the camber back with the upper hat.
