Why are the 95 headlights "cloudy". I mean I'm working on my car and I notice that they are really cloudy like lightbulbs. Does a company make any replacement headlights that are clear? It would defintely improve the look, if you added some crystal clear headlights. If anyone has pics that would be great.

german s14 headlights. LHD setup . perfect for zenkis
japanese headlights are set up for RHD

german ones run quite a pretty penny though. there are ways to clean your current one. someone can elaborate.

I am not sure, but I think this has to do with the USDM 240sx's using plastic housings as oppose to glass ones. They will eventually get cloudy after years of use.

wow that's alot of work to do to that supra. There has to be an easier way. There must be some scrub cleaner, it was mentioned but does anybodu know some good brands?

meguires sells a polish and a cleaner for plastic. you can find it at any autoparts store. ive tried it before. it gets SOME of the cloudiness out but youll notice a difference. but the best way would be to do the same as the supra guys.

My dad called me one day and told me that he found a 95 240 and the first thing I asked him was, are the headlights clear. To my suprise my car was garage kept and the sun hardly ever touched it. I beleive that the reason why they are "cloudy" is because of the sun. It was just a problem with that year. However Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts makes something that will fix it, but youi have to take your headlight apart. If you do that, MAKE SURE that you seal it right, or your headlights will look like all of the "Altezza" lights out there. Drowning in the water.

well i think the cloudiness come from not just from the sun but driving too. the little rocks and crap just scratch it up and all. then the sun just bakes them. im going to wet sand them right now and polish them with meguires stuff. if that fails them im going to throw them in the oven and take them apart. ill take before and after pics.

rub them with chrome/metal polish a few times. improves them a lot, It got rid of almost all of the yellowness in mine.

didnt take any pics but yeah. i wetsanded the outside with 1500grit sandpaper and then used the meguires plastic cleaner and polish and it got all the cloudiness out. i also put them in the overn and opened them up, but the inside was pretty clean. so yeah. its the cleanest ive ever seen the lenses. i think wetsanding them is the best way to do it, with high grit sandpaper. i couldnt find 2000 so i just bought 1500. got to clean/polish them a couple times though. but im happy.

How does wetsanding work? I have heard of it before, but I have never done it. What do you need to use to do it? Is there any special equipment needed for it?

well its just like it sounds wetsand. hehe...get high grit sandpaper 1000-1500 and get a small bucket of water and soap. throw some water on whatever you are trying to sand and make sure its always wet. just keep dunking the sandpaper in the water or throw water on whatever your sanding.

I went over my headlights thoroughly with an acetone fingernail polish remover, which cleaned them quite nicely... Behind that I went with like 4 coats of nu-finish and finished with several coats of meguair's gold class wax... Haven't had a problem with them yellowing in the months since I did it and this was over the summer...
