Oil can or air/oil seperator similar to stock but cleaner?
My new exhaust manifold doesn't fit the stock oil separator on my SR20det. Do they make a similar to stock oil/air seperator that I can mount closer to the brake booster and have function like stock? I have no separator at all right now and surprise, surprise with my big turbo and extra boost I'm now running I'm getting insane blow by. Also the crank case pressure is causing oil leaks at the valve cover I believe.
So anyhow, do they make a catch can / seprator that functions similar to stock? I was going to tap the valve cover and run a separate line to a catch and then to the intake but I'm thinking maybe I can route this closer to oem. If I can find a tank with 3 ports on it I could also run my hose from there right into my intake and kill two birds

Do you have an aftermarket catch can with the out plumbed pre turbo? Otherwise you'd have to vent it and even then, it shouldn't pressurize but there won't be any vacuum on the crank case. Post pics/written on your setup, need some info

Right now i just have a tube from the pcv to an L to the valve cover
prior to that I had the tube to the oem oil/air separator then to the valve cover T and then just had a tube to the ground to vent to atmoshphere. This worked fine but I changed it when I put my doc race manifold on. I'll try to post photos asap

The rear vent is meant as the main evac route for crank case pressure under boost conditions and the valve cover vent is a "secondary" for extreme pressure. If you blocked off that rear vent there is now less space for pressure to escape. But if you never had it plumbed back into the intake before you might as well hook it up to the original"T" and do what you did before. That catch can is to prevent oil being sucked into the intake under vacuum. If you just had it to atmosphere you should be fine hooking it up without it. I honestly doubt you would lose much more oil than you already are otherwise just hook up an aftermarket one before you let it vent out. It would be best (especially of you're running more boost) to hook up the line pre-turbo to actively pull crank case pressure and keep it on a vacuum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
