Tomei Technical Trax 2-Way...
Love it even when its clunky in parking lots. Instant lock up as if I have a button to lock it. Also when just driving, I can notice the car slingshot around corners and "relax" when I let off the throttle. Its amazing how much you notice it working but stays predictable. |

Can you guys list how much you paid and what was required for installation as well? I will be replacing/rebuilding my diff in a year or so and I want some opinions from people that own them.

I paid 730 shipped since me and a friend ordered ours at the same time. Also, I got a "how to" off of Nicoclub and followed the directions and with the help of a friend we got mine all installed in the pumpkin. After that all we had to do was switch pumpkins, I had a spare, and this took place at a meet we had at our friends shop. It was a really good experience and felt good knowing that I had a hand in installing that. All you really need man is a bench vise(sp?) and a good torque wrench. Oh and some loctite..
My tomei didn't need to be shimmed and it works perfect but my friends Helical did. He took that to a shop and paid 100 for install. So hope that give you an idea.. |

Quaife Diff - $1420
New Bearings, gaskets and seals - ~$100 got a spare housing that i took apart and cleaned up, got all the old gunk and fluid out. powder coated the diff cover. rebuilt using all new parts because i dont want to take it apart again, and to keep noise down. ill let you know how it works once it quits snowing here so i can drive the car again. Quaife compared to stock, obvious differences i love gooooold |

carbonetics 1.5 way. metal, not carbon plates. cost about 1k. clunky at low speeds, but super smooth engagement. not as harsh as the kaaz 2 way i used to have. install was straight forward, came with new bearings already pressed on. after install i didn't even hafto adjust backlash. i checked it with that colored pasty stuff and it was right on.

^^is that nismo SSS or just the regular nismo lsd? the SSS supposely, you could tune the break away torque and has 20plates whereas the normal nismo one is 70lbs break away and 16plates.

Weld Lock. A full cube. This piece aint going nowheres.
To be honest Ive driven harder since my weldloc and I can't really notice that much difference in tire wear besides it being more even. Then again I was running Falkens with the bootiest treadwear rating. Switching to dunlops so we will see. I was going to a 2 way when the welds broke but doesn't look that that will be anytime soon. |

I have a welded diff.. cost me $80 (included Royal Purple diff fluid). It works great. Just that tire squeak got a bit old and you have the diff whine as well. I'm pretty sure I'm going to p/u a Tomei at some point.
EDIT: as Jussjepbrox said you get used to it... the sound that is |

i replaced all the turbo gaskets on a silvia that was imported and the diff on that was agressive. low speed turns(parking lot turning) the inner wheel would slip. im looking for something along those lines
