[turbo] running coolant lines...
Ok, just want to hear some advices.... I'm planning on tapping the throttle body line and run the coolant line from there to the turbo, and then return it to the upper radiator hose... anyone has a better path in mind? Thanx

how about from the TB to the turbo back to the TB's coolant return line??
or.... get a turbo timer and save your coolant system the extra stress

Yeah, i was thinking about it for a while... then i found out that the sr uses water cooling and is fine... and plus i thought if i just splice it somewhere, and return right bfore the radiator, it shouldn't be affecting anything much....
As for returning back to tb line.... if you are talking parallel... i was just thinking, if both lines have same psi, wouldn't the water/coolant just stall and not move through the turbo? |

Typically there are connections for water lines for a turbo engine. It is a matter of getting the correct lines for it or making your own with steel braid and 'AN fittings'. Both the feed and return lines come from the engine block/ head area on the exhaust side of the engine.

uhhh, 1 thing though... it's not a turbo engine to start with ..... so i think i'll stick with the TB.... except could someone with and FSM or something tell me which of the lines is the one leaving the TB? Also. is the TB the last link in the coolant's path before it hits the thermo?
(I'm thinking of doing it inline <- since i'm runnign low psi) |

That would change things... Sorry, I'm not sure what lines you would use for in n' out lines for the coolant. An FSM would be your best bet then, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

there is a U-shaped rubber hose right below the throttle body. I replaced that hose with two hoses going out to the turbo and back. It doesn't matter which way the coolant flows, it just goes out to the center section and back anyway. I didn't have any problems with the setup last year.

Thanx a lot.
240Racer, you're talking about the one on the left righ? This is where i originally started messing with. I'm now done with setuping the coolant lines (well almost... just need to wait for my plumbing stuff to get here). |

i have a water cooled t3 turbo off a saab. im putting a kit together to go on a Ka24de. can i weld up the coolant holes on the turbo and be OK? or do i absolutely have to run coolant lines? I saw that ace had said something about a turbo timer?

with water lines: Cooler turbo, but generally hotter coolant (*might want* a better radiator or fan) w/o water lines: Hotter turbo <- should get exhaust wrap and cover everything around to protect from the heat. Another thing, with the water lines, you turbo needs less time before you turn of the engine, but it still needs some of it. |

I think it is 3/8" diameter or so. one end of the tube is left and below the throttle body and the other is kinda back under the intake, pretty hard to get at.
