I just picked up an s14 with a built ka-t 75# injectors, z32 mafs, recirculated bov and it has a JWT tune for the correct parts and is also running an SAFC II. Car runs fine a little rich on WOT but runs pretty decent all around except the idle. Sometimes it will idle normally but usually idles pretty lumpy around 700rpm-750rpm. I am new to the SAFC and was wondering if there was a way to raise the idle 100rpm so it would idle normally. Any other suggestions why it would idle so low?

Take out your safc and trow it into ocean....that's the best thign you can do.

As far as a low idle, why not just raise your idle to solve it?

honestly speaking...raising the idle is kinda masking the problem

700-750 is about normal...check for vacuum leaks

Without having a cam program from JWT to compensate for them, the car will try to retain the OE idle, this being way to low.

So yes, he can easily raise the idle for now, and contact Clark about what his ECU has programed onto it.

Mildly offtopic, but still kinda on topic: I was under the impression that a good ROM tune coupled with an AFC or AVCR to fine tune was a good idea? If the suggestion is to throw the AFC into the ocean.. what would you use to further dial in the car, once the ECU is returned from whoever? I know JWT and Enthalpy's tunes are pretty spot on, but surely theres something out there to improve upon it?

datalog the car then send the files back to clark and have him send you a reflash...the tunes are spot on, but datalogging than sending those files to clark for a reflash is the best thing to do

Matt pretty much summed it up...Ideally log your car, and also log your AFR and send it back to either JWT or Enthalpy, and they should easily modify your tune to fit the car very well.

Speaking of this, I really need to adapt a true wideband and a map sensor to my logging capability
