What's the difference between S14 and S15 SR Turbos?

Part numbers and Pictures would help.

So folks, I figure that while I'm pink I may as well be useful.
Here's a quick EDU regarding S14 and S15 turbines, and how to tell them apart.

First, here's your part numbers:
'S14' turbo: 14411-69F00
'S15' turbo: 14411-75F00

Here's an 'S14' turbine.
This turbine came on S14 K's and S15 Spec-Rs with automatic transmissions.

Inlet:

Outlet:

Part number:

Here's an 'S15' turbo. These came only on S15 Spec-R with manual transmission.

Inlet:

Outlet:

Part number:

As you can see, they're nearly identical in construction. The face of the compressor housing has the same markings, even.
The housing do have slight differences in their castings, and other small details. The greatest difference between them is the presence of a divider wall in the outlet of the S15 Spec-R MT turbine.
This is the greatest giveaway (besides part number).

A/Rs are the same.
Wheel trims are also the same as far as I know.

this is another S14 turbine, I'm pretty sure from S14 K's AT.

Here's a reverse shot comparing it to a CA18DET T25 (on the left)

I do not have a part number for this turbo.
The distinctive difference is the 1-1 marking on the compressor face.

Are they both BB? I thought only the Spec-R MT are BB.

Actually, I might need to revise this whole thing.

I found this on another forum:
Quote:
Jap PS13 14411-50F00
AU/NZ S14 (pre-facelift) 14411-75F00
AU/NZ S14 (facelift) 14411-75F00

Jap S14 (pre-facelift) 14411-69F00
Jap S14 (facelift) 14411-82F01
Jap S14 (Autech/270R) 14411-RP801 (Same as S15 early MT turbo)
Jap/ NZ S15 (early*) 14411-91F00 Manual model only
Jap/ NZ S15 (early*) 14411-69F00 Automatic models

Jap/ NZ/ AU S15 late* 14411-75F00 Same as NZ S14 and same for both Auto and manual
and also this (regarding BB or not)
Quote:
The first number is a batch number, it tells you when/where it was built
The second number is the "oem" number. On a nissan turbo it's a nissan part number, on an HKS turbo it's an HKS part number, on a garret turbo it's a garret number, on a Tomei turbo it's a tomei number etc etc. 14411-69F00 is a nissan part number.
The last number is a chra number. 466541 is a ball bearing cart with a 60 trim 60mm comp wheel and a 62 trim 53.8 mm turbine wheel, 466543 is a brush bearing cart with the same wheels. On this particular turbo the second part of that number describes what turbine housing is used. If it ends in 01 it means the "normal" turbine housing, if it ends in 02 it means the S15 turbine housing with the splitter between the turbine and wastegate exit.

Apparently the IDEAL S15 turbo to have is the early version with this part number:
14411-91F00

This isn't really making sense.
according to that first quote.. The late S15/early S15 automatic turbine is the same as the zenki S14 turbine, which isn't possible as those didn't have exhaust outlet divider walls. Also according to that second quote, the 'S15' turbino I have should be a brushbearing while the 'S14' turbo I have should be ball bearing. For sure the S14 turbine shaft spins better but i figured it was just in better shape...

More fun questions..
Just went to look at the blown turbine on my 180sx. It's a 1-1, so my guess would've been zenki S14, part number 14411-69F00, right?
But it's 14411-TM416.
?!!??!??!??!?

is not the S15 turbo ceramic coated, besides being ball bearing VS S14 just being ball bearing? I know my RB turbo is ceramic.

Dave - there's no ceramic coating... the wheels on your RB turbine (compressor at least) is/are MADE of ceramic. I'm sure you know about their propensity to shatter at high boost.

Ya, I know Kev, actually its not going to matter, because I just upgraded to a HKS GT2535 ball bearing bolt on baby!!
I was pretty sure the wheels in the S15 turbo were ceramic as well.

I ordered an s15 t28 from Performance Nissan Parts in Cali, and what I got reads Garrett A/R 60 M24 1-1 on the compressor housing. Garrett 0.64 on the turbine housing. The badge in the center section reads...

IL 0105J
14411 91 F00
466541-4

Did I get an s15 turbine, or is PNP taking me for a ride?

Holy crap, man, READ!!!
You posted the part number that I'd already stated is the 'ideal' S15 turbine.
by adding these , I'm joking. I thought I wasn't being anything less than completely obvious, but I guess I was wrong.

I hate to bring this back up as it is pretty old, but I have questions. Generally speaking, what the difference in spool characteristics between a 14411 - 75F00 ball bearing and a 14411 - 75F00 brush bearing? Other than the ball bearing is gonna spool quicker. Is there really going to be much of a difference in how long it takes to get to full boost? I also have a question about this serial number: 466543 - 1C -obviously brush bearing, no divider, but I can't find anything on the 1C. Any ideas?
