Someone recently said that the one over your headers if removed causes damage to the underside of your hood. The two on your stock exhaust I have no idea about, You can get some sort of wrap to put on your headers in place of a heat shield, you might want to look into that.

i work at a nissan dealer and we remove heat sheilds everyday. it does not cause any kind of damage to stock cars.
but im not sure about upgrade mods. i'm not sure if a header would increase heat by that much to burn anything. |

i just used some metal clamp ties to keep it from rattling, works pretty well, like the same kinda ties that your intake tubes are connected with (injen intake that is)

I dont think they have heat sheilds but they do have those heat sleeves. and if not those should be put on. for stock cars and someone not interested in performance a heatsheild loss isnt that big. when you start getting into performance everything counts.

i would think the heat now collecting near the hood would cause one of hose rings in the paint. i would say take it off and if your hood doesent get really hot, leave it off

When I replaced the engine in my old car, we left the Heat sheild off. The temp under the hood definately went up. It also caused the lining under the hood to be torn up.. kinda weird..
I talso effected the performance of the car, because I didn't have a heat sheild on the Injen SRI I had.. so the Intake filter would get VERY hot.. I could tell a definate loss in HP from when the car was cold to when it was warm. If you take it off.. I would recommend some exhaust wrap.. |
