Suspension Trouble NEED HELP!!!!
Just bought the car!!!
Suspension Info: This is what I have on the ride, Ground Control coilovers Megan rear upper control and toe control arms,Suspension technique front and rear sway bars. Problem: I know lowering my 240 will angle the tires from how the camber sits on the car, but my tires are sitting right against the coilovers! How tires work are in fact only suppose to be making contact with the road, but mine are against the coilovers and the road . It is eating my tires like I eat my donuts! I do not know much about suspension so any advice would help. I jacked the car up and tried to remove the rims but didn't get a keylug socket to remove the damn things so I tried to fit my head in there the best that I can to see what was going on but still no luck. I can grab the top of the tire and bottom with the lugs as tight as they will go and I can push/pull the tire towards/away from the car. (NOT STEERING) I figured it was the ball joints but wanted to ask for some advice and learn a little! Extra: Also I was wondering how to get my car to sit low, while keeping the angles of the tires at minimal so I don't throw my money away when I slap some new tread on it. I have spacers as well that I was thinking about throwing on there but someone told me it is not good to use them? Thanks ahead of time for any advice that is relaid to me! |

If the tires are hitting the coilovers, you need to find better wheels with the correct offset.
If you want to slam the cart like a ricer, just get the car algined when done.

I have g35 rims on it and not sure about the tires. It's not the rims nor offset on the tire. Let say this you are sitting in front of the rim looking straight at it while it is jacked up. The tire is facing forward as if you were driving straight ahead, so try to picture this. Put one hand at the top of the tire and push the tires to the coilover. That is what is happening. The rim doesn't feel sturdy at all, and yes all the lugs are tight, and I don't mean push the tire like you are steering.

If you jack your car up, get the tire off the ground
If the wheel has up/down play (as in put your hadn on top and bottom and shake it that way) you have wheel bearing or ball joint issues If the wheel has side to side play (again put hands on left/right side) it's a tie rod issue

if the tires still rub the coils after an alignment you may need some spacers, but yeah the wheel wobble with the lugs tight sounds pretty funky. all 4 wheels/tires do this? you have not been driving it like this have you?

I'd run spacers anyways n adjusting everything from there is easy. Plus (well in my own opinion) the cars stance will look Better. If u went with say a 15-20mm spacer in the rear n a 10 or so up front, u can adjust the camber from that point without actually ruining ur fenders or having to
roll anything. If u research the fitment thread ull find a ton of stuff that would probably help u out

Not ALL tires do this, just the front. The back have the normal camber wear on it from the car being slammed. I figured it was the ball joints just not sure b/c I can't get the f*ck'n tires off b/c there is no KEY for my lugs! Thanks you guys for all the feedback. I am new at the whole suspension thing so any info will help. I will list my goals real quick to see what other ideas you guys have!
Goals: *Obviously get the front end where it is drivable! *Keep the car slammed but fix the issue of wearing down the inside tread of the tire, b/c it is eating my money! *I want the wide look for sure with as little camber as possible! So the spacer ideas sound great! Extra: I informed everyone on what is on the car so with that what do I need to accomplish these goals? |

you will most likely need longer studs to run spacers, but you will have to figure out how to get the lugs off first. you should be able to see the ball joints with the car jacked up

Use a lugnut removal tool to get the keyed one off

UPDATE! Got the lugs off with a 12 point socket! Smashed it on the lug and got it right off! Also as for the suspension when I got the tire off I saw on the coilover there are 2 supporting bolts that keep the rotor in place and those were loose. Why they were IDK but it fixed the problem and I am back on the road! THANKS EVERYONE for the information. GOOD PEOPLE
