What racing techniques do you use? And how do you do em and how bad are they for your car? And Another thing what is your strongest gear? Mine is defenitley 3rd. I feel my 1 lag and second too, but not as much as 1st.

clutch kicks, engine braking, heel/toe downshifts, left foot braking, throttle steer, etc. you can't say you can control your car if you can't use basic racing techniques.....

possibly somewhere on the internet??
try seaching google.com or something... but I could have sworn there was something in the FAQ section about it. Most of the stuff I know comes from my uncle, who used to race rally cars and such. The rest comes from dicking around driving and figuring out how to make the car do what I want it to, then finding out later from other car people the terminology.

my race techniques: "Go that way, real fast. If something gets in your way, turn."
Also, press gas. Need to stop, press brake. But seriously, I don't have heel toe shifting down that well yet, and not even close to getting clutch kick and all that down. But all in time. all it takes is practice, a track, and lots of tires. And for more info on drift techniques: check out Drift Session Techniques: HRP

What is clutch kick?
hell and toe - smoother downshifts, you blip the throttle with the side of your foot as you are downshifting. Takes practice! Compression braking (engine braking)- This is the techniques of allowing the compression of the engine to slow the car. I don't reccommend this. That's why they put brakes on the car, to slow it down. The engine is made to move the car forward. Lift throttle oversteer - Lifting off the throttle after turn in and the car wants to rotate or begins to spin. Common rookie mistake. Trail braking - applying light brake pressure after turn in attempt to get the car to turn a bit more. sometimes left foot braking. Double Clutching - clutch in, shift to neutral, clutch out, clutch back in, select gear, clutch out again. If you have have a straight cut gearbox or your sychros are unhappy, this can help in your downshifting. The double clutch stops the gear shafts from spinning by selecting neutral before the next lower gear.

ahh left foot braking...very awkward feeling... i have a feeling that someone is gonna try it and crash
Im getting custom plates on my car...they're gonna say 'L8 APEX' clutch kick is like trail braking, except you're using the drivetrain instead of the brakes. late braking...not really a technique, it's jsut that if you can brake later, harder, and more efficiently than your opponent, you'll be much faster.
