What are normal EGT Temps??
Here is my EGT gauge.
At 65mph and 2500 rpm's it read at about 65 that normal? This is on my s14 sr20det with 550cc inj, stock T28 and PFC. PFC isnt tuned yet, running on base map at 7psi but it will get tuned soon so dont worry. Ive also included a pic of what my PFC displays... Last edited by Erjay1; 10-16-2008 at 11:27 PM.. |

Your egt tempatures are also going to depend where you put the probe. Some people drill it into the manifold, some people have it in there downpipe...
where did you install the probe? I have mine in my downpipe, under boost i would get to 1000 degrees. its been a while since my car has been running so i remember what my avg temps were...but 600-650 seems normal under regular driving where i had my probe.....if your concered about the tune...read up on tuning and not egt. i've read several time the pfc "pre-tune" is garbage and people have hurt there engines. Alot of people use an enthalpy write up for a base tune. This topic has been covered alot though. Search and read Last edited by SidewaysNJ; 10-18-2008 at 09:46 AM.. Reason: added info |

My probe is on runner #1. Yes it will get tuned soon. Just waiting for new turbo and cams. Wont have the funds until next month sometime. Running on the base PFC map in the meantime. I'll see if I can find a base tune somewhere. Thanks for the input.
Or if someone knows where I can find one for a stock T28, 550cc's, Z32 Maf and stock cams??? |

would it change the flow if you install the probe before the turbine wheel. To me it seems like it might be better after the turbo, that way you get best exhaust gas pushing the turbine wheel. any body have any info on that ?

If it's after the turbo the exhaust gas is cooler than when it come right out of the head. I think it's anything over 900c you can start to melt the piston.

Better reading when it's in the manifold. Could be bad too depending on how deep the prob has to go inside. I never used a Blitz unit before so I can't say. I have used the Greddy in the manifold of my old DSM never feared it breaking off and falling into my turbo.
