Help!! My car randomly didn't start this morning. It drove fine yesterday! Wtf?
I have a 91 hatch with a 13 sr. I drove home last nite around 10 pm, this morning I went to leave and it just cranked and cranked. Doesn't even pop or sputter, just turns over and over.
Please help me!!!!! Here is what I checked -fuel pump is priming (I hear it) -fuel pressure is there (pulled off fuel line) -injectors are spraying (pulled off fuel rail) -spark plugs are firing (pulled them out and looked) -compression is good (did a compression test) -changed cam sensor -changed ecu The car doesn't even sputter despite the pistons being wet with gas and spark plugs getting spark. however, when I unplug the injectors and spray carb cleaner into a vacuum line I can get it to sputter a little and kinda start. -Brandon |

could be flooded. pistons should not be soaked with fuel.
Leaky injectors? Pull the spark plugs out, let them dry and pull the plugs from the inj, crank over the motor on a healthy battery and let it sit for a few hours. put it all back together and see what happens.

Cas installed 180 degree out? that and what i stated before would be the main reasons.
Could also be low battery, but it seems like that part is covered. anyother thing is the fuel pump could be weak/dieing. In my evo i had a fuel pump start to die and not provide the right amount of pressure and the same problems you are having happened.

I didn't see grounds mentioned in that list you checked. Make sure the ground from the coil pack harness didn't fall off. I had that happen on a dyno session, made a run and all was great, shut it down to adjust the map. Went to make another and it wouldn't start. Turned out that ground that bolts to the firewall was the culprit. Check all grounds tho.

**update!!!****
so when I pull the fuel pump fuse I can get it to start up for a second or 2 at a time. It does this till it runs out of gas in the rail. But the problem is, the second I plug the fuse back in it floods the motor like crazy and won't start again until I pull the fuse again. What is going on????? |

Uhhhh, hmmmm well fuck then I don't know. It'll start when the fuse is out? Then die after the fuel pressure zero's out? What is your fuel pressure at? Is it an aftermarket FPR? If so what kind? As far as grounds falling of over night, that bolt slowly backs out over time, until that exact moment when it falls out as you shut your car off because it's a nissan and they love fucking with their owners.

Update*************
-Stock fpr, Fuel pressure is at 40psi -Checked injector o-rings for leaks, none -Changed coolant temp sensor still floods to hell the second you try to start it, fuel pressure stays pretty much at 40 Last edited by redsx13; 02-02-2013 at 02:10 AM.. |

sounds like u may have a stuck open injector possibly. pull plugs, turn key to on for fuel pump to prime check down spark plug holes to see if fuel is flooding in, and from which cylinder. or pull rail and lay it on some paper towels and do the same thing.

take the fuel rail/injectors off, motor over the car and look at the spray patterns. im almost 100% sure its your injectors. 1 could just be dumping fuel insted of spraying it.
Fuses= good Battery=good Ground= good Fuel pump= good Fuel lines=good Fuel Filter= ?? Fuel Rail= good Injectors = good?? Ignition= good Spark plugs= ?? Timing/CAS= ?? ECU= ??

mine acts in a similar way when its really cold out, when you go to crank it over, push the gas pedal all the way in and hopefully it will start, thats what i have to do with mine and it fires right up, not saying its the best option but id give it a try

Lol, might want to get that checked out. I would take a look at your tensioner for your timing chain, shit dont just skip 2 teeth. I believe that part is around 60-70ish
