what could the problem be?  faulty brake lines?  it brakes fine otherwise.

Do you notice any fluid leaking onto the ground, or is it one of those magic leaks where the fluid level goes down, but the fluid just disappears? See if you can find any spots on the ground, or check your brake lines to see if they look like they are wet from fresh brake fluid. Try parking your car and pumping the brakes a lot to help you find the source.

if you r loosing fluid, but can not find any messes or puddles etc.....i have seen brake master cylinders leak into the brake booster assy (on other cars). eventually they spill over but may take some time. just an idea.

Just ignore it. No problem.

he he he, just kiddin. If you notice brake fluid level going down in master cylinder over a long period of time, this is normal(like months). Otherwise like the other guy said it could be your master cylinder. Mine went and you could see fluid leeking down your booster most likely. Also if you have ABS, The module could be leaking, so inspect these things with a flashlight. One of my brake calipers leeks a little.

ok thanks guy.
I filled it up 2 weeks ago and it went down to half way already.
It's hard to check the garage floor cause the roads are wet here with the snow and all and I can't tell what's what.  I'll have to wait for a dry day to check that.

Is the stock master cylinder expensive to replace?

It could also be a torn seal in one of the calipers themselves....

I dont recall it being expensive. I got a reman from an autoparts store like 3 years ago and havent had a problem with it.

It could be many things. On my s14 the SS Brake lines wore through one of the metal lines from the slave cylinder. Try to check the whole system and you should come up with a good guess as to where it is coming from.
