Another stupid "which turbo" thread

Ok, here is going to be my set up once I build.

CP 9.0:1 pistons with CP rings
Eagle rods
ACL bearings if I can get a hold of them, I guess Mahle Clevite if I can't...
Stock crank

Here is where my turbo choice comes in, with just a built bottom end running a 3 inch exhaust with an undecided manifold (probably top mount equal length with external wastegate, but a log manifold is still a possibility)

with a SSQV blow off valve and some undecided wastegate on a fmic (276mmx400mm) by isis (I have great experience with their rad, my engine actually underheats even in the summer now, unless I block part of it off.).

My goals:

Streetable, as my daily driver, with drift fun on the weekends, and a very occasional 12 second pass on the strip.
Be able to cruise all day long on 15 psi making ~350 whp.
Be able to take it to the track and drift on 21-22 psi making ~425 whp.

Most of my time on the street is spent below 6,000 rpm, with cruising at 70 at ~3000-3100 rpm.
On the track, I just give her hell, and the fuel cut does fine for the rev limiter.

I'm thinking 1300cc injectors would work, if I can find them. I think Deutsche makes them.

I'll be on AEM EMS, Megasquirt (Yes, I know how big a pita it is to tune), or Nistune if my tuner thinks I can get away with it. I have a walbro 255 fuel pump, plans for 50 psi rail pressure, and a full 3 inch exhaust, including downpipe.

My guess is a GT3071R or a 3076R, or the GTX of either of these. Possible plans for cams later.

Intake (on a junky spectre cone filter)

Custom frame damage (shell to come before boost)
One pulled fender on stock wheels
An S14 block on an unknown gen head (how do I tell from what years, and what combinations make what compression ratios?)

Next 6 forthcoming mods:
Shell
D2 coilovers
Z32 brakes
Chelsea Denofa's sourced steering knuckles for angle
Full poly bushings
Limited slip 2 way Kaaz or similar diff

It's an eyeful, and earful, and you've all seen this thread a million times before. Some of us play with the search button, and still don't find the answer we're looking for.

1300cc injectors seem big unless you plan on running e85 or something.

If you can afford it, the AEM EMS is going to be awesome. The Garrett turbos you listed are enough to get you over 400whp but I would look into another manufacturer.

Comp Turbo in california makes triple ball bearing turbos with either cast or billet compressor wheels. They have a better warranty then Garrett (good luck trying to get anything out of those guys) and excellent customers service.

1300cc is overkill for 425 whp at high boost. Unless of course e-85 is going to be run....the whole time. I believe 550's or maybe 7XX if you really want should supply the 3XXwhp to low 4XX whp range. 1300's will probably be detrimental to the idle.Most GT30XX series turbos can supply that range of power, good, and proven turbos.

Make sure, obviously, that you are re-surfacing the head/block, honing your cylinders, getting the rings sized, hot tanking, and the necessary gaskets for a rebuild. I'd reccomending getting ARP hardware and a metal headgasket if you can find a stock bore one.

E85 is going to be run frequently, and I think I'm going to try the Comp T3 6062 .63 turbo. We'll see what happens. Shit might blow up, it might not.

I would run one of the precision Billet wheel turbos....There real cost effective and perform well...

It seems right now the GTX turbos are a little high on price....and Comp just came out with a new oil less turbo....Neat but IDK how safe it'll be

Yeah. I meant for the application. I'm always willing to give new venders a chance. The wrong turbo is putting a T25 on a KA24DE, or a T77. Not putting a comp turbo in over a garrett. Same reason why my Isis radiator works extremely well. I gave it a shot. If I had bought mishimoto, it probably wouldn't have worked so well, and the customer service would have sucked.

seriously though, a t3/t4oe BB turbo would work for you. a gt35r would be better for your purposes though. you might notice the gt30xxr feel like its pushing too hard to maintain your goals
