s13 17x9 +20 on S13 (rear)

Hey guys I just decided on a staggered set up for my hatch, and I need some help from you. I already bought the front wheels, they're 17x8 +20 and I must add they fit just like I like it. FYI my car is dropped on megans, and I usually run -2 degrees in the front and -1 in the rear of camber. I plan to run 255/40 on the rear 17x9 +20, I dont mind having to roll my fenders, I just need to know how it will look, whether it will fit, and a picture of them on the rear please for the flushness purpose.
Thanks

I think a 255 may be a lil wide for just a ROLL. Maybe if you pull it, but then you run into having sunk rear quarter panels.

Hey I'm running 17x9 +15 in the back with 255/40/17's (not a big fan of stretched tires) and i only rolled my rear fenders. 17x8 +25 in the front

Right now my guess is I'm running like -3 camber in the rear I'll adjust it to about -2 to -1.5 soon.

here is the fender roller I used its a eastwood roller also I'll used a heat gun you don't want to roll your fender without applying heat first to the paint and the area being rolled because your paint will flake.

Yeah man , it looks like a very slight pull on your third pic, but then again you are using +15 right, mine being +20 might not need the pull(in case you did one) in order to fit the 255 right.

Im wondering also how well 17x9 will look in the rear, however with 245 or 235's. also do you mind posting a pic of 17x8 fronts mounted on the car if its not too much hassle. I was actually trying to go with 16x8 slipstreams or grids but so far not finding anyone that sells it in 4 lug thats width. So if im understanding anything under +15 should need pulled/ rolled fenders for clearance/ rubbing issues.

looking through the pics thread to find those sizes mounted on cars is a bitch even when using the cntr+F to search down the page

17x9 +20 with a 215 will fit without a PULL. Just roll it real good, run some camber as well.

The car with 17x9 +15 runs alot rear camber which makes tire rubbing less of an issue. I would run 235 or 245 depending on the actual tire, less negative camber will give more grip for putting down power.

17x9 +20 with a 245/40 will fit without a pull on the rear of an S13.

This is with about 2.8 degrees of negative camber:

This is with a roll and slight flare, same height:

I think we should make a "Post your wheel sizing ?'s" thread and get it stickied. That way people can ask there question and people can chime in and answer them. People don't seem to want to search, even though almost every offset, width, and most tire sizes have been covered instead of having these wheel size questions all the time...I don't know. just a thought

These are 17x8 +20 mounted on 235 40. I'm running -2 camber, yeah this is on the front, no roll, or pull, and not rubbing even when I dive in hard cornering.

There are several wheel size threads out there, maybe we need to find the best (or create a new one) and sticky it. People could ask questions and post pics of their setups.

I've run a 245 on a 17x10 +20 and it fit in the rear.
I run a 235/40 on 17x9 + 15 in the front and it fits.

I think the 255 should fit on a 9 with some love to the fender. I mean it's in the rear for christ's sake.

By christ I mean christ the god of fitment not jesus.

Sorry I can't conform to S-chassis height norms... my car sees grip track time and bumpsteer just makes the car slower.

What's your spring rate?

Bump steer + high car = wimpy springs(?)

Just a guess.

It isn't the spring rate. It's the design of the S-chassis suspension to have bump steer when the control arm angle approaches 90 degrees. A higher ride height reduces control arm angle and thus bump steer.

Doesn't really matter much, parts are coming in on Monday to rectify the situation permanently.

Good.
My car is much lower but the LCA's are NOT past 90 degrees and I havn't experienced any bumpsteer...

and yes I drive the living SHIT out of my car (contrary to popular belief).

So far my wheel size and offset is good, I guess based on the pics I've seen from you guys, now I get it that 255 wont fit on the 17x9 +20 without some hardcore camber and a pull, so how about 245 or even 235? I really dont want to run more than -1.5 camber in the rear, I'll be using this car on autocross a lot in the coming season. If 245 wont fit without a pull, how about thenI mount the 235 that are on the front wheels right now on the rears and then buy a pair of 225 40 17 for the front?
Thanks a lot guys

can you not find 255 w/ a lower sidewall height than 40? that's pretty high, on a 235 or 245 it's not bad, but on a 255 it looks huge...
can you run 255 up front?

Please forgive me if my previous post did not make sense , anyways here I go again. I was trying to run the 255 on the rear not the front, and from what I've gather around they wont fit without a pull, which I dont want to do. So I asked if the 245 40 17 will clear in the 17x9 +20 in the rear with a good roll and about -1.5 camber, if not then how about the 235?, and I'd like to stay using a 40 aspect ratio, I would not like to go any lower than that.
Thanks

Christ man. Many people even posted pix for you... I was one of them... did u even look at them all?
I have your exact rim specs in the rear but have 215s stretched over them. Were my suspension to bottom out (w/o bump stops), I'd crunch up my fender pretty good right at the edge. With a roll just barely tucks in there as it should. Camber the hell outta the rear if you want to even attempt a wider tire than me, rolling is a must, pull is optional depending on how wide of rubber you want, but it sounds to me like you want fatty drag style, thus a pull would be necessary.

wtf does the 40 sidewall have to do with anything?
Plus sizing my good man, plus sizing.

Just go out and stick your rim on the back, that should give you the best idea of how much room you've got to play with, remember everyone's car is ajust a little bit different, worn out subframe bushings could mean you have more play, or just a tad offcenter than the next guy, just get off the puter and test it out, what you're trying for is going to be tight no matter what.
