My 240SX S13:

1996 SR20DET Blacktop
Garrett GT2871r .64 turbo
Apex PowerFC standalone ECU
Nissan oem 740cc injectors
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Sard fuel regulator w/ gauge
Splitfire Direct Ignition Coils
Flex-a-lite fans
Koyo radiator

After drifting my S13 for some time, the SR20DET wouldn't start. The oil temp was around 80 deg C and the coolant temp was around 95 deg C. After waiting for 1-3 min, my car started fine with 0-1 cranks.

When I tried to start my car, there was battery but no cranks.

When the engine was not running the battery voltage was around 13 volts.
When the engine was running the battery voltage was around 12 volts.

I heard the fuel for the injectors (I believe that is the sound).

I replaced the coolant temp sensor already.

Some people said I should replace the starter. They said maybe because the coil was too hot to make contact, so I couldn't start my car.

What could be the issue?

1) Battery
2) Alternator
3) Starter
4) ECU tune

What are you suggestions?

U should probably add CAS to that list to check. My problem was similar and it was because i had no crank signal. I am starting consistently now but I still think I need to completely replace my whole engine harness to be sure.

Well generally speaking if heat is causing a problem its going to be electrical.

Did you hear the starter solenoid click when you tried it? Also if it does it again see if you can roll start it. (this would indicate a starter problem)

You certainly might want to add ignitor chip/ignition coils to that list. They both experience a lot of heat and can cause starting issues.

Yes, my friend pushed my car to roll started my car once. So why the starter is the issue? I want to know more about it.

When I tried to start my hot engine, there was electricity but no click sound.

I went to Autozone to test my battery, alternator, and starter. The Autozone person told me that the battery is fine. It reads like 12.89V. He said if the battery is above 12.6V, it's working fine. However, something is draining the battery. According to Wiki (Car battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), the battery should read 13.8 to 14.4 V.

I told him that there was no click sound when I tried to start my hot engine. He said maybe it's the neutral safety switch. The previous owner did the auto to 5-speed conversion. I need to know more about the neutral safety switch. Will the heat mess up the neutral safety switch?

Its your starter. Sr's are notorious for bad starters. Replace with a OE starter or get it rebuilt. A temp fix would be to have ur buddy bang the starter while u turn the key. If that doesn't do it and u can push start its time to buy or rebuild the starter
