'70s Monkey Bikes
I was going through random small motorcycle magazine that my friend had and came across these things that seem to be a growing phenomenon for the anti-vespa small bike scene. I'm quite intrigued by how cool they look. Anyone know anything about them??
Don't know what model this is Honda Special Edition Monkey This is the Honda Zoomer, which caught my eye the most. If I can find the right spot for some further research, I might invest in one of these. They seem to be pretty big in Europe right now though.

Here a clip with a bunch of guys in UK riding around in Zoomers. Good to know that they weren't as small as I thought. Wasn't really into those pocket bike sizes haha

They have the Honda Ruckus at the local bike shop. They look cool and are fairly cheap. Also have a nice spot for a backpack under the seat.
I kinda want the Metro though to go all emo...

The Ruckus/Zoomer is just like a Honda Elite only with a more modern engine. I have an Elite from when I was 15, and my good friend has one of those "monkey bikes" from the 80s. The elite was way more fun, the monkey bikes are super unstable and uncomfortable.

So did I. Fun little thing. I always felt like I was about to touch the ground or get bucked off, one or the other. I can't imagine riding that now that I'm all growns up.
Those ruckus things are cool for scooters I suppose. If you have a short commute why not? I can't get into the modding scene for those though.

The first one you pictured is a Honda 50 Mini Trail. I have a 1968 from Cali so it has a title and I could drive it on the street if I wanted to. All my aunts and uncles and my mother learned to ride on it and then then all my cousins and I and many many friends have learned on it. The things a friggin tank and it still starts up to this day.
We've also got two like the one BH pictured and a Honda Trail CT90 too (my grandfather has a thing for older bikes). I love em shits fun as hell to ride. Also got a Yamaha Chappy 50 lol. Take a look at them, stupid fun old bike too.

a couple of my friends bought those mini bikes about a year ago. still have them, but they barely ride them since theyre so SMALL and slow. lol.
one of them has the original honda trail one. and the rest have copies. made by ODES. but yeah Ruckus'/scooters are fun. people can get crazy with them! of course japan beats us all. Heres mine just for kicks. it was modded pretty good. got to 50 no problem. tried selling it on here, but no one caught on.

people can get crazy with them! of course japan beats us all. Funny story, I am pretty sure that is a JC Penny Pinto frame or equivelent, mine is similar, chopped seat post, drop bars, black, etc, but I welded in a top tube. Looking at 110cc 4 stroke engines on ebay with 4 speed manual transmissions. We shall see, I kinda want to sell it and get a big boy bike, but I dunno.

What else can be done to the motor? All I've seen so far is intake ducting and exhausts? I want this shit doing WHEELIES haha. On a serious note, anyone have any good aftermarket sites for the Ruckus'?

Scooters are cool, because you have some of the freedom of being on a bike (some = you can cut through traffic, but you can't maneuver or out-run anything)... but for the amount of money that some guys spend on their scooters, you could have gotten a perfectly good "real bike". In Japan it makes more sense because they have much different licensing restrictions (used to be based on displacement, don't know if it still is) and much less room to play 'at speed'. Here, the whole US road system can be your playground As a basic rule, if you're spending anywhere near $3.5k, you need to be buying something with full fairings that'll do 180mph.

Yea, I want to build an old Honda CBR.
Cool thing is there is a giant moped scene in Richmond. If I rebuild my blown stock motor, I could probably sell it for $700 the way it sits, and I've spent less than $100 on it. with a 4 speed and stealthy 110cc, I have no doubt I can only make money on it. It is just against my nature to get rid of anything half done unless I absolutly have to.
