Question <=400whp Goal - Exhaust Manifold Options?

In the very near future I plan on doing some major upgrading to my redtop. My goal is for 400whp at the most. I've been trying to search for some info on manifolds, but I'm having some problems finding all the information I need.

It seems that it is accepted fact that equal length manifolds are best. I've tried to search for some options, but am having some hard times. I'm sure I'd be happy with a full-race manifold, but I don't really want to fork out that kind of money. What other companies make reliable equal length manifolds that don't cost $1000? Is there such a company?

What kind of difference would there be if I didn't go with an equal length manifold? What are some good companies that make non-equal length manifolds?

Thanks in advance...

You have to decide and tell us whether you are going top or bottom. Are you going internal or external? Then we can give you suggestions.

Why would you go topmount? Just for looks? You can fit a capible turbo on a bottom mount just fine.

I reccomend, Silk Road Manifolds (signal), hks.
all the cheap ones crack.

I use silk road

Fullrace is the only true option to consider at this point. Their bottom mount is 850 I think?

400rwhp.....?
top mount is for big turbos. if u use anything bigger than a t3 centersection on a low mount, the position of turbo ends up very close to oil return bung on motor, then u dont get adaquate oil drainage. not to mention snaking the intake piping past the powersteering is a [email protected]

i am running a t3/t4 with about 63a/r housings. compressor side fits with 1 finger space between motor and snail, oil return line is barely an 1 1/2" above bung. 400rwhp is alot out of an sr, thats pretty dyno queen in my opinion, which leaves u running something big, which will in my opinion necessitate top mount to fit.

and yes cheap ones crack. at 400 horse, u will be running pretty crazy boost, with retarded timing, that leaves u with high egt's and cheap ones crack when u turn them into cherry pipes. ive never seen above 370rwhp without high egt's and some crazy boost/retarded timing. but then again, hawaii is small and noone does dyno queens/quartermilers.

with the .64 gt2871r you can hit 400rwhp. That number is not dyno queen if you set it up right. 400whp is a lot of a stock sr, not a lot for an sr.

Go on Freshalloy if you want to see actual technical date. That is with exhaust manifold, cams, intake manifold and about 18-20 psi though; So its pushing it but definitely doable on pump gas

I always thought that 400 +hp was the .86... its good to hear the .64 can do it also.

400rwhp off of a gt28 + 21psi? i went with the wrong combo, damn thats sick!!!!! how long can u boost at 21 psi?

lots of people i know went for strokerkits and gt28**, mainly for mountain runs. average is 350-360rwhp at 1.2 bar boost.

i was wondering, how does the car react to more rpm(of course building it for such)? ive been contemplating building my sr for about 1.2-1.4 bar boost and about 8-8.5k rpm. the usual stuff of course, but wondering how it stacks up to the stroker kits...

i figure its a little cheaper to get the car to rev up there compared to getting a decent stroker set up and wanted to know if its worth it.

8k is doable on just some comp cam valve springs @ $150, but don't forget the rocker arm stoppers.
