Calm down kid.
You're being too confrontational.

BUMP OLD THREAD...Damn and i was considering putting on a cone filter with my stock pipe, oh well. Anyone else have any good/bad experience with this setup? Just curious.

My guess is that it would probably be the same as a cone filter with an intake pipe. Not much difference from stock airbox in my opinion, besides looking a little better in the engine bay. My 240, and along with many others are so loud, that I can't even hear the intake noise.

I just put a K&N Cone Filter on my stock KA intake tube a few days ago. Not much i can feel in terms of throttle response or what not. What i can say, is that it makes my S13 sound like a grunting fart can. Especially with an HKS Hi Power. I'm hoping it's just the intake baffling.
Anyways, point is i need an aftermarket intake tube to accommodate some extra loose hoses, and to increase airflow. No complaints on my MAF. |

I run an Injen short ram on my KA24E with the the IAT sensor disconnected. Perfectly idles at 750... I've seen stillen sell air filters that include a IAT mount on the filter element itself. I believe it is discontinued....

Let see the benifits of keeping the stock airbox. Cooler air, better oil cooling with the PCV system, less chance of detonation, less heatsoak, better throttle response, and its tuned to the IM runners. Didnt most ITR owners come to the conclusion the stock airbox unmodified was the way to go? Our airbox is a lot less restrictive.
Maybe just get an AFE panel filter. Ive gone back and forth about 40 times this summer with a MAF adaptor and AEM dryflow, vs my stock airbox and different ducting. It seems the Airbox's restriction is the filter element. But it resists heat soak. The AEM dry flow breaths better, the Exhaust tone is alot quieter but after 40 minutes of driving I can hardly make it up a hill. With the OE airbox I can make shrouds and ducts to seal off the areas around the radiator, while still getting fresh air where I need it. I can also Remove the Left rectangular resonator port, and replace it with 2x 2" ABS 45* angle pipes from home depot, and it pulls in more air from in front of the bumper. With cooler air I can run more timing. |
