S13 Hard Backfire Throttle response and more
I have a 1992 s13 and I have a few problems which I can't determine what is causing it.
The first and most serious would be the hard acceleration with bogging and rough idle and a lot of back fire. I was driving one day and all of a sudden the motor seemed to sound like a Subaru haha sorry only way to put it, but throttle response seemed very crappy and it's like it lost it's balls. I pulled the injectors while the car was running and noticed there was no change when I pulled the one so wondering if it can be an injector issue, but I've never had a fuel injector problem so I can't say I've experienced it. I've replace wire, cap, rotor and plugs and did not make a difference. I've also tried to remove the "bad" injector but the bolt head is starting to strip and I'd hate to have to drill and tap that, but if there is not another way to determine if the injector is faulty I'll have to do so.. I'm looking for other solutions as what to do next, Someone told me PVC valve? Any help would be awesome as I need to get my car back up and running soon.. Thanks Mike |

Ive had the same thing happen to me and it was injector three. If you pulled the plug and there was no change then thats definitely it. If you have a dremmel just use a cutting wheel on the screw giving you problem and use a flathead to take it out. (thats what I did lol) good thing is stock injectors are very easy to come by I have like 8 haha

Finally had some time today to confirm that with the motor running and I start to pull the injector plugs the motor does not react any different until I pull a good injector plug which will cause the car to stall.. Tomorrow I'll be buying a Node Light to check and see if the injector connectors are getting power.

are you talking about a OHM meter? Are you sure the node light will not give me a better response over a multimeter? I was told with the node light you just plug it into your injector plug and star the car and if it blinks then you have power to the plug, not sure how I will be able to tell this with a multimeter.

Yeah everyone calls them something different lol. Reason i always suggest people have that instead of a test light only is because you can know exact voltage instead "ok i have voltage" because most of these things can have voltage but be below the correct operating voltage.

Ok well I think a multimeter will not tell me if the injector has power since a injector pulses and a multimeter can't read pulse..
This is a Noid light, it's strictly for injectors Automotive Tools - Diagnostic Tools - Noid Light and IAC Test Kit with Harness Extension - The Parts Bin Yeah I may only use it once compared to a multimeter but I think I'll get a better test reading from the noid light which is not a "test" light. |

Real quick, do I need to pull the entire fuel rail to replace the injectors or no?
I been following this guide shall we call it http://zilvia.net/f/archive-faqs/136...injectors.html but I can't seem to get the injectors out completely and will the entire fuel rail need to come off? If that's the case I can't seem to access the FPR vacum line I'm sure if you need some pictures I can take a few. Last edited by 92sxMike; 02-28-2012 at 08:07 AM.. |
