2jzgte with 300zx manual tranny in 240sx?
Hi all,
I have searched and searched and I found an adapter plate for a 2jzgte to 300zx trans, but i was wondering if this would fit in an s13 240? Is this even a good idea or am I heading down a very bad road. I would think this would be a good alternative to an r154 since everyone seems to think these trannies are made of gold and you cant get one for less than 1k now a days. Plus you got to add clutch + flywheel + bellhousing + mounts and you end up with almost 4k into a manual swap after all the miscellaneous bs. |

2JZGTE Engine to 300ZX 5-speed Transmission Adapter Plate - 0.625" A36 Steel - Adapter Plates
You mean that adapter plate? Yes it will fit why wouldnt it? Internally same as a rb25 your biggest prob you may have to hit the firewall a bit to clear starter ( same as a rb25 swap with certain kits) and jump over to xcessive manufacturing for their z32 shifter assembly for the 240sx. Basically shortens the shifter arms to fit in stock location. Mounting and driveshaft will be needed but so isnt it with a r154/w58 anyways. . In all honesty I agree with you I'm glad companies have trans adapter plates for the jz, the r154 is a over price anchor a NA Z32 trans can be had for $300 at jdm places or $150/200 local and hold as much power. |

From excessive's site you don't seem to need to modify the shifter tunnel but thats for an sr engine. What Flywheel/clutch do i get? one to fit 300zx or to fit 2jz? Also this seems legit to me if it would work.
I already have the motor and all the swap peices, the tranny is the last peice of the puzzle for my swap. |

Z32 transmissions are nice and can handle lots of power, but the synchros suck ass as they age. They are soft metal and most have quite a bit of mileage on them so don't be surprised if you get 2nd and/or 4th gear grinds. There are rebuild kits for them, but I'm just giving you a heads up.

Far as clutch/flywheel if you call that company sure they can help direct you. They're the main reason everyone swaps 1uzfe's into 240sx's using the ka transmission with their clutch/flywheel bushing parts. If I where you I'd get everything and hold of on the shifter assembly do a test fit and see how it goes. If the shifter is too far back it's either cut trans tunnel or get the kit. . Jr_ss, Didn't they solve the syncro problem in the 95/96? Or was that the later year jdm trans only? Pretty sure they have a rebuild kit in case it ever happens to solve it *edit: reread your post I see the rebuild part you mentioned* Then again my Na z32 had 198k on it and shifter great and I beat the piss outa it. |
