S13 flex disc replaceable?
Hey guys just recently I purchased an 1989 240sx se. The engine is a KA24e and it feels fairly strong..it must be a new motor. However the ride is ok at this point but it can be much improved. It's a bit bumpy in the low gears and when progressing through the gears low ----> hi the bouncing fades. When the car rides over bumps the suspension isn't as stiff as I would like it. It doesn't bottom out but it doesn't feel like the car is suppressing the bumps efficiently. Also if I'm going 80+ in 5th gear the car starts to vibrate..These were just a few of the problems and in the next paragraph I list somethings that I think might help...but before that i have to ask because I am really stumped. When I took the car in to get a complete inspection the mechanic said that the flexdisc in the driveshaft was completely missing or that it was damaged (cracks in the rubber), I can't exactly remember which. I know that the flex disc helps absorb some force from the torque of the driveshaft, since it is made of rubber, which can help reduce the vibration when gassing it or going a fast speed. Here is the catch, that part (the flex disc) is not listed on Nissan and I cannot find it despite my best effort and countless hours online I even called a local 240 shop and they were just as puzzled as I was, I knew my only hope would be to post on the forums. I live in LA region and was wondering if anyone might have that part or could give me some insight into it. I know that I might be able to get it from a part-out 240 but I don't know of any junkyards with a 240 parked in.
To Do List:...?
So I already know a few things I want to change like the sub-frame bushings, which will hopefully reduce the amount of bouncing and wheel hop. While I'm fixing the sub-frame bushings I'll probably change the suspension and put coilovers in and this will hopefully solve the problem of going over bumps. Lastly, (since it seems to be the hardest to get my hands on) to change the flex disc to reduce vibrating at high rpms and fast speeds.
What do you guys think?
