It just keeps getting better.
GM is killin with this thing. We thought Bentley's announcement earlier today that it's adding a Speed model to the Continental Flying Spur lineup was exciting news for sedan fans. After all, a 600bhp saloon that can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach 200 MPH is pretty exciting, no? Not really when compared to Cadillac's news that the 2009 CTS-V will officially be rated at 556 horsepower, hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12 seconds flat. No offense to Bentley, but a sub-3-second sedan is about as exciting as it can get on a Monday. For the record, the Edmunds' Straightline Blog reports that the sport sedan's 6.2L supercharged V8 will produce 556 hp at 6,100 rpm and 551 pound-feet of torque at 3,800 rpm. That engine is the LSA, derived from the new Corvette ZR1's LS9 motor and detuned for duty in the CTS-V. Fortunately, the LSA wasn't detuned too much and the '09 CTS-V should destroy its German competition, specifically the BMW M5 with its - can't believe we're saying this - relatively meager 500-hp 5.0L V10.

In other CTS news, GM says they'll make a 4cyl Turbo CTS when customers start asking for it!
The CTS is looking even more tempting to me. "We're ready. When (customers) want it (the option of smaller engines) - we'll do it." That's a (somewhat mangled) quote from Thomas G. Stephens, GM's executive veep for global powertrain and quality, speaking at the inauguration of the General's Powertrain Engineering Development Center last Friday.

Sounds awesome, but don't you think that's taking away from the beefy manliness that Cadillac is? But if this 4cyl turbo makes 260+hp, then I'll STFU.

Dude, if you think that looks like a Fusion, "I feel sorry for you mother."...
The CTS is one of the nicest looking vehicles out there right now.

I seen the Radiant Bronze the other day for the first time and it's off the bone in person. Imagine that bad boy with some nice VS-XX's or some Profounds?

They could still be related... You can't deny Ford stole some of the lines and basic shape of the vehicle.

the thing that kills me about it is the frickin beltline. why can't manufacturers build a car with a beltline less than 4 feet off the ground anymore? makes it look chunky instead of sleek.

I agree about the beltlines. I don't think anyone mentions beltlines on here more then you and I. But the CTS is attractive enough over-all that I think I'd live.

[quote=exitspeed;2214645]Well the Fusion came out in 2005, and the new CTS didn't come out until 2008. So, it would have to be the other way around. But, I'm just going to disagree with you on this one.
The caddy looked alot the same in 05 too. I'd rock the new cts-v in some kind of metallic silver.

Hey you guys aren't the only ones! I hate em too haha. Although they're for safety purposes, that doesn't mean there isn't material (bigger airbags? stronger B pillar? stronger metal?) to try to make a lower beltline. I think some of these designers are just taking the easy way out. Lately when people think of high beltlines, they think high class (ie Bentleys, RRs). So I guess they're fitting in with the latest trend?

I think it has more to do with making huge trunks rather than safety. The designers are told that the car has to have so much trunk space, and the only way to do that is by making the trunk very tall, thus necessitating a high beltline.
