Start around 2500 and dump the clutch.  If it bogs dump it at 2750 next time.  Keep bumping it up 250rpm every time you try until you spin out.  Say you spin the tires pretty good at 3250...so drop it back to 3000.  Basically do what drifterx said...just experiment and see what works best.  Generally for our cars on street tires, it's gonna be somewhere around 2500-3000.  You'll know you launched right when there's no bog and you hear a small chatter from the rear wheels.

I find that if I let the clutch out when holding it at 2750 rpm's it will bog down.  But when I let the clutch out as I am reving up to 2750-3000 she'll turn the tires and launch real nice.  Other wise she bogs down like an old man on the shitter.

so the ideal launch requires you to dumb the clutch as in DROP the clutch..?  shouldn't you slip it just a lil so u don't spin but keep ur rpm's up so u'll have more power when your wheels catch?

hey AJ, not proving you wrong or anything, but that doesn't work.  my friend told me that he tried that a lot of times in a row, and just didn't happen.  so just put the clutch all the way down, rev to whatever rpm you desire, and then let it out.  and like everyone else is saying, if you squeel too much, take it down 250 rpm's etc etc.

The peak in the torque power band is at 4500 RPMS. I think if you have an LSD and some good tires, you can do this safely. My sweetheart (not my boyfriend in his S14 but my S13) does it great at about 2500 RPMS. Just my .02....

slipping the clutch may help, but it's hard to do and it's harder on the clutch.  You'll probably want to start at a higher rpm also if you slip it.
Another thing I completely looked over when I said that you'd typically dump between 2500 and 3000....this could change a good bit with tire compound, tire diameter, road surface, road conditions, etc.  The last time I tried it, I pinned it between 2500-2750...but that was with 195 tires and really worn/gritty pavement.  This weekend I tried it with my new 225 tires on good pavement and it launched pretty good with some wheel spin at 3500 and some bogging at 3250.  On black top/asphault, it might even be up to 3750.
