i bet an airport would be a lot of fun! you know, ive only autox'd once this year, and i destroyed my tires b/c of massive understeer. i havent replaced them, and i dont think i will. im gonna stick to track events this year, me thinks... oh well, i hate being poor! :( haha... ive been to three track events, so i suppose im making up for it! :) anyways, good luck!!

I've autox'd twice this year, finish second both times in SM. I am now running some hoosiers and damn they grip. I can't wait to get to Toledo and try them out.

I also had some track trime... I am getting, but still no drifting for me. :)

haha that's awesome halo. How about a little more detail? Talk to any of the fast guys? I need to live vicariously through you. I've only made 2 events this year. Owning your own business eliminates free time.

Sure thing MovinUp-1,

Let's get things out first.

OFFICIAL Specs of my car:
- Stock SR20DET (turbo, injectors, ecu) tuned with SAFC to 180WHP @ 7psi
- SSautochrome manifold, elbow
- 3" downpipe, resonated test pipe, RS*R ExMag
- K&N filter, 300ZX MAFS
- Strut bars, Tanabe Sway Bars, Autopower Rollcage
- 245/45R16 Hoosiers A3S04 all around
- D2 coilovers with 9/7 springs

Got some other goodies, but nothing great.

My car weighed in at 2920lbs... very heavy.. gotta do some weight reduction.

I was 4 seconds off Daddio's Evo VIII saturday, 3 seconds off on sunday.

I finished 12th out of 14 and did not have a bad day.

the 240sx is overweight and underpowered, combined with a driver that lacks experience. I did have a lot of fun though! :D

Why is it so heavy? Aren't S13s supposed to be around 2700 lbs?

So they claim.

I guess a fully loaded S13 Hatch with Hicas, SR20DET, FMIC, Rollcage and some other shit will do that to you...

God damn, I thought I recognized your car! I was going to work on Sunday morning and saw you pull into the Speedway gasstation on Airport Hwy. I noticed the plates were from Quebec and thought holy crap that dude came a good way for the autox. I was in the GTO about 3 cars behind you before you pulled into the gas station. Great lookin' car man! And hope you enjoyed our little "neck of the woods".

I don't remember pulling up to a gas station on sunday morning because my girlfriend filled her up on saturday night... But I was definitely in the area all weekend... It must've been me...

Thanks for the compliment, but it was REALLY dirty last weekend. :)

Yeah I don't think you pulled up to a pump, you pulled off to the side kinda to wait for someone. You were being followed by a truck with a trailer and a horde of Integra Type-Rs.

HaLo

haha! Yeah.. I went down to Toledo with some friends, one driving a Type-R (who trophied DS), one driving a GS-R, one driving a N/A 300ZX and one driving a MazdaSpeed Protege (who trophied in DS too).

It was a lot of fun... ;)

Halo, you need a boost controller. At 12psi you should be around 220whp. Taht should get you out of the corners better. :)

HaLo
06-17-2005, 09:34 AM
I have a boost controller. I chose to run 7psi... it's more linear.

10 psi gives me 200whp on the dyno..

And with more power, I would not be able to put it to the ground with my VLSD... I am spinning my interior wheel under hard cornering.

MovinUp-1
06-17-2005, 05:06 PM
At 12psi my car was making 217 at the wheels on a dyno dynamics dynamometer. I didn't have much problem with the VLSD at that power. But with the new turbo at 14psi it makes 250whp. The vlsd sucks ass at that power. No good at all.

I dunno, i'm looking into getting a S15 diff now.. ;)

Nismo diffs are cheap and work very well.

HaLo
06-20-2005, 04:19 PM
I dunno about clutch type diffs.. too much maintenance... And i don't trust them for auto-x...

MovinUp-1
06-22-2005, 01:41 PM
maintenance?? I've had a clutch type diff in my camaro for years w/ no problems. And that car makes over 500 horsepower and uses 14" wide slicks.

HaLo
06-22-2005, 01:42 PM
You have to inspect the clutches regurlarly for wear...

I'm sketchy on clutch type diffs, esp since I have a rear wheel lift problem (which would probably be fixed if i cornerweighted). I definitely need something tho, and I might end up settling. The 315's seem to make my VLSD seem open at times.

Anyways, HaLo came down to my region's tour stop. Someone put a brick on his accelerator plz.

Did you get this problem when you went to coilovers? What rear spring rates are you running?

AceInHole
07-09-2005, 08:09 PM
i think it's purely a cornerweighting problem. previously I was lifting a front tire through corners, so it's all about balance I'm guessing. My problem at the moment is I can't lower the rear more due to clearance (need to pull the fender more or just cut it) and don't want to raise the front due to ideal geometry.

Springrates are 9kg/mm front, 7kg/mm rear. Tires are 275/40/R17 front 315/35/R17 rear.

Damn you and your friggin huge tires. ;)

Good luck getting that problem fixed.

found a loose bolt on the rear sway. popped another one in and rox0red today. was .4sec ahead of the guys that beat me by .7 yesterday. Throttling around corners is much more fun when the car is balanced.

WTS: brick (for use on HaLo's gas pedal). j/k :P

Yeah, I know. I sucked. ;)

Seriously, I need to start hitting some cones. I am not going fast enough. I managed to gain 1 position with sunday's result, but 12/15 ain't that great. I am looking into losing some more weight...

AceInHole
07-11-2005, 09:52 AM
On some courses I can mentally try to tag cones (probably why I hit so many) to keep my line tight. That course was really high paced though, so it was tough to even try. There were a couple turns that just made or broke you if you didn't have the right line (turns off the first section and onto last section come to mind). Anyways, you didn't come in last!! So it could have been worse :P

Yeah.. the far corner yesterday killed my... my diff was not working so bad on sunday, i wish i had the torsen in...
