View Full Version : Nismo Mounts vs Drift Freak Mounts

I bought a set of Drift Freak mounts for my KA-T and have only installed the Tranny one so far. I like it, but my daily stock KA needs a new set of motor mounts too.

I know Drift Freaks are poly but apparently the stud placement reduces vibration. Theyre also cheaper than Nismos. Which would be the better set (motor mounts and tranny mount) for my application? Is Nismo worth the extra cost in my case?

Clearly you haven't driven a car with DriftFreaq mounts installed on it properly.

Ripzsaur, Just get the Driftfreaq mounts and be done with it. It's perfect for the street and very capable at the track as well.

I've got a set of lightly used Nismo mounts if anyone wants them.

Drift freaq mounts are the shit. I bought mine in 2011 and have put ~60k miles on them. Still going strong and will be using them in my new chassis. They sit the engine lower too, which helped a lot with my CD009 swap.

How is the vibration? And lower does sound nice, would make pulling the trans easier. How about oil pan clearence and stuff like that, any issues?

How about oil pan clearence and stuff like that, any issues? You will have immediate cabin vibration the first 20 mins or so of running. Then it will settle to a mild vibration (more noise than feel) for about 30 miles or so of driving. After that, i didnt notice anything else. Countless weekends of canyon road racing and auto x and theyve been perfect

Not really, I've been using his mounts for like a decade, and driven countless other cars with em.

Not really, I've been using his mounts for like a decade, and driven countless cars with em.I agree with this. Yes it is "more" (negligible due to the design) NVH than an OEM mount, but until you replace every bushing in the suspension, the mounts will hardly be a noticeable factor.

Man yall are crazy.... the mounts arent bad, just stiffer then factory/oem. A huge diffrence? No but some more vibration. Enough to pick it up in some trim panel rattles, n can feel it personally. Maybe im more sensitive to it then yall.. op askd for opinions on them, i gave mine. Doesnt mean im wrong for sharing my experience

I think I found why they don't work for you.

You're an insufferable poser, that's why.

Because your opinion (and presumably, experience) is stupid, and your presentation of that experience is sad desperate try-hard attention seeking.

That is, you pose. Poser.

I've been running with the Nismo mounts for years. Upon first start-up, you really notice the increased vibration. It didn't take long to get used it.
