Okay so i have already figured out my sr block needs grades 4,4,4,2,2 I did this by adding the crank numbers with the block numbers. My question is starting from the main bearing on the front of the engine what order does it go in? Is it 4,4,4,2,2 starting from the front main bearing by the oil pump? Or is it the opposite?

Always start at the front of the engine.. thats why its called the front..

I would suggest measure your crank and mains to make sure they haven't been reground at some time in the past...is rare if you bought directly from jdm importer but higher likely hood of happening if bought off someone who used it before you

Thank you I appreciate your input. Yes this crank Im using has never been ground it came from a good block and I have that same good block im using it to replace an old sr shortblock and crank.

def still measure the old bearings and compare to the new bearings when they arrive, and still plastigauge everything

Isn't there a better way to measure for bearings than plastigauge? Seems really old school.

Micrometer

plastiguage is actually the new method afik...micrometer is much more accurate and definitely less work imo...3 measurements and make sure you learn from someone who does it on a regular basis...also no oil on it as it can throw off measurements!
