97 S14 smog questions.

Recently purchased an s14, it was a non op due to a bad cat, anyways I took what I thought was he cat last night and found it was hollow.. (Apparently s14 came with those???) so the only cat that would be bad would be the one right under the exhaust manifold.

I just got a working cat from an s13, fits right up to where the hollow one goes. Now my question is, if I add that working cat to the car, would it compensate for the bad cat at the manifold or no..

No. The only functioning cat on an s14 is in the down pipe and both O2 sensors are before the dummy cat. Get yourself another down pipe.
