What else is needed to use the consult cable? Software download or disk? Adapter of any sort?

It depends what you want to use the cable for and what vehicle. In order to use it you have to have a consult plug in your vehicle. Some s13s and z32s came with them from the factory.

Okay say I have a 92 that has the consult port.
I was more concerned with connecting the cable to a laptop and what software would be used to read it.

You can download the consult software from nistune if you want the cable to be able to read codes and stuff
