It depends what you want to use the cable for and what vehicle. In order to use it you have to have a consult plug in your vehicle. Some s13s and z32s came with them from the factory.

Okay say I have a 92 that has the consult port.
I was more concerned with connecting the cable to a laptop and what software would be used to read it.
