Hello and thank you for opening this thread

So I have an S14 sr that needed a new exhaust housing because im stupid

I took a bunch of photos and made marks but stuff didnt line up and im wondering how this is possible since it doesnt look like it was moved at all but it has shifted

-So I broke off a stud in my old housing and there are only 5 bolts
-drilling and retapping messed it up more
-I bought a blown turbo for its exhaust housing
-both are the exact same housing
-I couldnt take the exhaust housing off my good one
-gave it to a shop to take it off
-Apparently I didnt put enough "man" on it and he got it done before I could make the 10 minute drive home
-You see that the CHRA has shifted
-He says I have to take off the inlet side to realign it
-pics

Before dissassembly
Cold side left and hot side right
Notice the wastegate bracket location relative to the oil drain

This morning me trying to reattach

Now what it looks like is that the oil feed comes from top and drains vertically, with the coolant entering and leaving horizontally in the oem configuration

Now it look like the lines have shifted

Is there any way I can rotate the CHRA without basically rebuilding the entire turbo?
Can I just loosen the nuts/bolts a little on the compressor side and rotate it from the middle?

Yes, loosen the exhaust side and gently slide it whatever direction you need. The metal collars should just be holding it tight. Oil feed needs to be vertical to drain properly

Thanks for the reply friend

Do you mean I can loosen the bolts on the left side of the photos ( the compressor side with 3 brackets with 6 bolts total) The exhaust/turbo housing side is loose and I just slid it on for the photo

I've just watched some videos and they say it is okay to loosen them a bit to reclock the turbo.

I'm just double checking because I am deathly afraid of having to rebuild/rebalance my turbo all because I was too lazy to take off the o2 housing during the engine install and this whole thing stemmed from that

yes don't completely remove it. Just loosen a turn or two and get the oil feed pointing down again.

You aren't affecting the turbine shaft by clocking turbine housing or compressor housing.

Thanks for the reassurance guys

Here's a good informational video if anyone wants to watch

My only comments after that is that you should probably wait to clock your turbo once you have your intercooler setup installed and you have your wastegate actuator and all relative equipment ready for final install so you dont need to pull it again

For my setup since it is a first time Sr20 install
-I cleaned up the exhaust mani threads but I recommend just installing new ones for peace of mind
-get a new manifold to engine block gasket
-might as well get new nuts if you got new studs
- use brake cleaner around the ports and keep it as clean as possible
-SS turbo lines
- mani to turbo gasket
- chase the threads
-install and vroom

If you haven't purchased studs yet we offer a kit with nuts cheaper than Enjuku's!
